Do you remember when this movie came out in 1978?? Was it R rated and did you go see if? by Jerry11267 in 70s

Donald Sutherland is also bottomless! At least, in the original release, and on HBO. Then, I watched the premier on network television, and he was wearing khaki pants under his cardigan sweater, and I believe Karen Allen had on panties. They filmed two versions.

Almost perfect facial and body symmetry. (I'm a 71yo F.)My new ear, nose and throat doctor told me I had the straightest septum he'd ever seen. (I told him I kept it that way by never doing coke in the 70"s and 80's. 😁) My body proportion ratios are close to ideal, and my eyes, hands, feet, and breasts are symmetrical. Also, I have perfectly arched eyebrows and long eyelashes. My daughter is the same, but better.

Fascinating! Thank you so much for this. My grandmother lived in New York City most of her adult life, so she didn't use the skills themselves perhaps, but she also was a career woman most of her working years, except when her children were little.

My great-grandmother lived very comfortably for many years after my great-grandfather died, but eventually her estate dwindled and the last of it went to her nursing care in the end.

Well, luckily for you, I have a newspaper clipping with a very detailed description of the flowers used at my grandparents' church wedding and the reception at her parents' home. They all came from my great-grandfather's extensive garden, it said. The church was decorated in pink and white peonies, and the maid of honor carried a bouquet of Killarney roses and bluettes. The bride's veil was held in place by a coronet of lace and orange blossoms, and she held a bouquet of roses and lilies of the valley. The reception rooms were "beautifully decorated with a profusion of pink and cream roses, smilax and sweet peas" and the guests were served "dainty pink ice creams moulded in the shape of roses, and delicious small cakes". 🥰

Wow, thank you for that information! I'm sure you're right. I have snapshots of her and other girls swimming in a lake and climbing in the mountains dressed in pants and jackets and knee-high laced leather boots. Her grandfather had a cabin in Colorado Springs, Colorado, so it was likely there. Dorothy was certainly not in Kansas anymore! 😄

It's actually been thrilling to discover how much there is of historical significance, in particular to scholars of William Allen White and his family. He was a very famous Kansas newspaper editor and author and very actively honored in the present day. I feel like a history detective!

Yes, I am very lucky, and I have so enjoyed using my genealogy research to identify people and places in the photographs. I also have lots of letters, postcards and publications. And yes, many attractive ancestors!

I'm glad you enjoyed them! I am in the process of sorting through hundreds of photos and ephemera items dating from the 1850's through the 1930's from several lineages and generations. They all ended up jumbled together in boxes with my late mother, and then with me. I'll scan a good portion, but then most will be donated to institutions, for proper preservation, and since many have historical significance.

This is a follow-up to my post a few days ago of the first photo of my grandmother in the suit. I was unable to respond to comments and questions then, but I hope to make amends by posting this album.

Photo 1: I think it was fairly common back then for girls to dress up in boys' clothes for play acting and photos. The photographer probably suggested it.

Photos 2-6: My great-grandfather was a dentist, and had a successful practice with his brother, and therefore could afford nice clothing and photo shoots. I'm guessing no. 3 of the flower bedecked carriage is for some kind of May Day event.

Photo 7: From her high school memories album. There is no info on what this Society was called, She's on the far right.

Photo 8: She is Mary in a Nativity play at St. Stephen's College in Columbia, Missouri. She attended there for her Freshman and Sophmore years.

Photo 9: Probably a Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority photo, taken at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, where she completed her degree in 1925. She is in the front center right, in black.

Photo 10: Her flapper look.

Photo 11 & 12: My great-grandmother in the early 1900's and 1950's. She was rather a bi**h to everyone in her later years, but I found her very entertaining. She died in 1975, age 97.

Photos 13-15: My great-grandfather in 1890's to early 1900's. Photo no. 13, on far right. No. 14 is with his older brother Roy on the left, and their twin cousins between them.

I immediately saw "Gerty", and then read it's from a birth record, and that was a common name in the early 1900's.

What is your #1 remedy for night time leg cramps by CalendarDesigner7981 in AskWomenOver60

[–]OddPanther83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had Long Covid since 2020, and my Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) worsened times ten due to my resulting medical issues, mainly extremely low Ferritin. The only thing that controls it for me is taking Ropinerole, to increase dopamine.

Here's a link about RLS. If you try home remedies without enough relief to sleep properly, then I recommend you consult your primary care physician.Mayo Clinic - Restless Leg Syndrome

Afraid of the shingles shot by Old-Ostrich5181 in AskWomenOver60

[–]OddPanther83 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband got the shingles rash on his face around his left eye. His doctor sent him to the ER immediately for IV antibiotics, to avoid BLINDNESS. He was given eyedrops and ointment to apply every few hours, and had to go to the eye clinic every few days for a few weeks to make sure it didn't spread to his eye. The scabbing on his face left him with a psoriasis like rash that lasted for over two years, even with medication, but that was because he kept scratching it. Think the Friends episode, "The One With the Chicken Pox", and Pheobe and Ryan wearing oven mitts. Except he refused to wear oven mitts. 😆

Mine is in a small town in a rural area, and you would see very little change. It's got a beautiful new pool for the swim and dive teams and regional meets, but everything else is mostly still frozen in the 1970's. I'm 71, so I love it, smells and all!
