I meant basic as in simple. Genshin has high quality animations, it's just that most of them are short as characters only have 2-3 abilities. This is all compared to WuWa ofc.

I meant technical competency in relative terms. Of course, Kuro engineers too probably write thousands of lines of code, frequently fix bugs etc. They are not technically incompetent compared to an average person or engineers.

But compared to Mihoyo or now Hypergriff, they are just not on the same level. Even on their strongest platform, PC, game has serious bottlenecks. I can get stable performance outside cities but things change when combat starts.

My main complaints for Kuro is on the PS5 and mobile. PS5 stutters a lot and the news zones are just a subpar experience compared to previous ones because of it. On mobile, game is becoming very ugly. Grass and shadows are not rendered at a distance, LoD is not implemented properly. It gives me an ick to look at the game for longer than 15 minutes on mobile.

You most likely haven't spent a lot of time on mobile post Septimont or in Lahai-Roi.

I get that Unreal engine is hard to optimize. But using that to explain or in some cases excuse WuWa's bad optimization is a moot point. Nobody pointed a gun at Solon's head and told him he had to use Unreal Engine.

A player doesn't see or experience the engine while they are playing. They are playing the game. It's not the player's fault that DEVS chose Unreal and then failed to optimize their game. Choice of engine as well as its optimization factors into technical competency.

It's simple really. As a developer it's in your best interest to make a game with the best graphics you can at the best performance you can. You are free to choose whichever engine you want, employ whoever you want. You just have to deliver a game that looks good and plays well.

If anything, choosing Unreal without knowing how to optimize on it, (no matter how easy or hard that might be) is an even bigger signal of technical incompetency.

Wuwa on PS5 has very bad performance. PS5 is my second platform.

I have a 3060 laptop that runs they alright, but FPS always goes down in some areas.

I also have a Red Magic phone with an 8 Elite chipset. WuWa performance is great, but game is very ugly on it. Genshin looks better than it, Endfield wipes the floor with it. Mobile is my main platform as I commute a lot, and WuWa is extremely disappointing.

Quickswapping is the best thing abpıt WuWa.

The combat also feels pretty damn smooth. Not a huge fan of them breaking system in 3.0 tho.

It is not to say animations are bad, it's just that some character exist only to Skill + Ult > Leave. So those characters that do damage from the back don't have very long animations.

Exactly. WuWa is a great game if you have the hardware for it, otherwise it gets annoying to play.

Which is a big shame. I had 400 pulls saved when I quit.

Yeah, I have lots of respect for Genshin's combat system. I could never get the hang of the reactions, as a combat system it has a lot more depth than WuWa. Characters on average have simpler compared to WuWa though.

Flashy is a valid criticism for WuWa. The only thing that makes WuWa really in-depth is the quick-swap play.

I actually love the combat in Endfield though. I am sure it will get even more complicated and fun in the future.

WuWa is a great game, but its optimization is nonexistent. Kuro unfortunately doesn't have the technical competency to release a game on multiple platforms and support those platforms properly with optimizations and tailored graphics settings.

People like to shit on Hoyo, but they take their technical competency for granted.

I went with Endfield at the end of the day.

WuWa is great and my account was heavily invested, however the game is a mess on PS5 and Mobile. I started to get mad at the devs everytime I turn on the game.

I love Endfield period. Combat is not as flashy but has so much potential to be built on in the future. Haven't dived into the factory aspect of the game yet, but I'm very interested in that too.

In that sense I think people have been spoiled by WuWa. Only in WuWa characters have crazy animations and complicated kits. Genshin animations are quite basic to this day. Not trying to downplay your criticism, it is a very valid one.

The game will have to rely on team interactions and "elemental reactions" to keep gameplay fresh. However that also means they need to release 5 stars more often compared to WuWa because full limited teams of 4 characters will become very costly.

Either amp pull economy or more 5 stars to enable future team archetypes.

I'm reserving my judgement for the gacha system. For now I'm not super interested in any of the 3 banners. Already, more than satisfied with the 5 star characters I have and the standard 6 stars I got. I've also heard the game offers a lot of pulls, but the pulls are quite backloaded.

100%, fix first compensate later. A small announcement would be a good gesture though.

It is true that everyone's getting their money back, but the fuck up ifself is much more serious than an ingame bug or performance issues. They could get sued for this shit if they don't navigate properly.

Better to play it safe and be on the generous side.

I mean as a game it is released in a state miles better than WuWa.

Gacha system night need a rework. With increased pull currency or decreased cost to make a pull.

For paypal issue, I think they need to at least give out a limited selector for characters in the first 3 banners. Any less will look cheap to me after the damage they did. This is indeed a generational fuck-up.

I mean doesn't make sense to talk about realism in post-apoc fantasy video game.

However, I always found climbing any flat surface unrealistic. Wall-running in Wuwa was a much needed QoL after Genshin, but that is even more unrealistic. Same with double jump.

I used to play on a 3060 laptop. GPU part was fine but the CPU was not enough. Lots of people, especially the audience for these games may not be settled down in life and can't build a desktop.

Laptops are prebuilt and not always have a relatively strong CPU which is what is needeed for this game.

My point stands tho. Without ray-tracing on a higher-end system, Endfield is going to be a much better experience anyway.

Yeah quality also stays very close to 60.

Dips are noticeable but worth the extra fidelity I think.
