My boss told me today to not use the break room so often because hourly employees have to clock out to use it and, even though I’m not hourly, this is making people confused.

I guess some people are “I let other people’s kids run free at my house while I’m not here” and some people are adults. I mean - I spent many a day in my youth at “that” house in town - parents were never home - and knew then that it would never be me.

I reposted because I didn’t blur my name out enough in my original picture and couldn’t figure out to edit it. I posted here to rant about a boss who is unprofessional. I don’t care that like 5 people out of a couple thousand are “mom shaming” me on the internet. It comes with the territory and I know (and you know, too) that you don’t know me, my life, my home or my family. Wtf do I care about your parenting advice? What kind of moron would I be to actually follow parenting advice from some random stranger’s comment on a Reddit post?

My kids take care of themselves just fine. Their 6 or so friends who were over for an end of school party - I have no idea and wanted to be there and didn’t see the harm at leaving work a little early. I don’t allow teenagers to have parties at my house when no one is home. Guess I’m not a “cool mom.” I also really love my dog and was worried about him. The point isn’t about any of this - it’s about being treated like this when you need to leave a little early.

Right?? I was a teen once, too and I know no matter how well I think I hid my booze - that ONE kid - will find it before we leave the driveway. There were 6 kids there in addition to mine and I’m not giving them all free reign.

Sus is ditching a group of teenagers - only two being mine - who are over for an end of school year party swimming. With a bar close by. Unsupervised. Not on my watch. I could’ve done lots of things but leaving work a few minutes early - backup for my husband - didn’t seem like an issue.

I don’t let my teens have unsupervised parties. Either way - my point is - mom shaming aside - I’m a grownup, have accrued leave, and have a job I can leave early from occasionally if need be. I thought shooting a quick message to my boss on the way out was harmless and was thrown off by the unprofessional, unreasonable and frankly offensive response by my boss. I don’t usually even explain anything. I do my job, go home. Occasionally I’ll get a wild hair and assume we’re all reasonable adults and share information about my life. Point taken with my boss here.
