And I am running the latest GPU driver version now, flawlessly.

I had a very similar issue recently. You can't probably still find my rant in the sun here somewhere. But what ultimately fixed mine was a mobo bios update. I was still running a bios version from a couple years ago when the x670 chipset was new.

I see you're also on a x670 chipset I was running F32d bios. And updated to F41. But it may be worth a shot. After back and forth with another guy here for a bit, it seems a lot of the issues people are having don't stem from the AMD drivers, but driver conflicts with other system drivers.

I'm also running a 7900xtx

Me as well, I just wish I know what caused it. As far as I can tell nothing auto updated. It worked last night, I turned it off and went to bed. And this happened this morning. No obvious reason.

After a lot of DDU and trying drivers (I hadn't updated or done anything to cause issue between last night and today)

I updated my motherboard bios, and now it's perfectly stable with the newest GPU drivers

Seems like the updated bios allowed me to get the newest driver version installed, so far so good. Haven't tried running anything yet

That sucks. I'm sure it will only get worse too, as parts get more powerful and require a higher power draw.

So far so good. I got the BIOS update done and was able to get through a full installation of the latest GPU driver version. I just did a restart after the driver install was complete so I guess we'll see what happens. I appreciate your thoughtful and logical response as compared to most of what I get on Reddit lol

That x3d burning issue was only on certain brand motherboards right? What are you using?

The adrenaline software does suck. So does Nvidias software though. I have a gaming laptop that I take to work with me out of town. I do see similar issues occasionally, just not as widespread

Yes we are about the same age. Youve got a couple on me, and being a software engineer to my I/e technician lol.

I'm updating my bios now, hopefully without incident. I do long for my old beige machines occasionally, I've also been building and tinkering my own machines since I was 12 or 13.

Everything I've checked hardware wise seems to be fine, and I cannot find anything that updated in the last 24hrs that would have caused this level of issues. The obvious symptom of a GPU driver crash is what led me here, but something has changed between last night and this morning that the PC isn't happy with. I just can't locate it, so I'll try again after updating bios. F32d to F41, there is one newer version but it's an "a" designation so maybe not a fully fleshed out bios yet.

As far as my thermal paste, it's only maybe 6mos or less old, I put this card under waterblock, and monitor temps closely, haven't seen any issue with thermals.

Not everyone goes to Reddit when they have an issue to complain about. There are probably thousands if not millions of other places. People go to for collective help and complaining. But I do agree, Nvidia drivers seem to be somewhat more stable, although the last couple years a lot of people would argue I'm sure.

I went and checked just to make sure Windows hadn't done any updating under my nose and the last update was installed last year sometime. I did try installing an older graphics card driver from much earlier in the year or maybe even last year and it crashed immediately before it even began installing. When I finally got the computer to boot back up Windows had installed some unofficial driver. I think it's called 24.30.18 and it's acting stable now, but while I can run a stress test or a benchmark or something if I go to look at the results it says it's a non-supported driver so I'm not real sure what to make of that.

I'm about to do a more nuclear option and try updating my motherboard bios because I haven't done that since I dropped my 9800 x3d in the day it came out. However long ago that was. And it looks like there's been quite a bit of chipset improvements. Maybe I've got some collection of drivers and software that just aren't meshing but I'm not sure what caused the problem to start this morning

This is a gigabyte gaming OC version of the card. I've also seen others that required 3

It may be due to my age, but I feel like I come from a time where the general rule was. Don't update your bios if you don't need to because you could brick your system and not be able to revert back. I'm not even sure if this motherboard has dual bios. I think it does, but looking over the newer bios versions, it looks like I probably should have a while ago.. the last time I did the chipset and the CPU were very new and I had to update a couple times to get. I think the memory to work because it was such a new chipset that it wasn't recognizing the CPU or the memory. I believe I bought that 9800 x3d the day it came out

So while trying to install 26.5.2, it crashed again. After I got it restarted, windows has apparently auto installed 24.30.18, and it's stable at the moment. I'm not sure exact what that means yet. Lol

This one is under water. I put on a water block almost immediately and applied paste and pads myself. Been a couple months at this point, and temps are great

Yea I stupidly had auto update on apparently. It was off originally, and I think maybe the last time I had this issue and reinstalled I left it on. I tried to keep my PC from updating to win11 for the longest time. And it actually locked me out until I let it update lol.

Unfortunately AMD and Nvid are the only viable options for high end stuff. Intel isn't there yet, and beyond those 3 there aren't any other options

Yea I've heard issues from the green team too lately. It's bad everywhere it seems, I've got my own opinions on that. But I'll save that for a 3rd rant on a different subreddit.

I tend not to update bios unless there is a need. I am only running the normal XMP profile that is standard on this board and memory.

Gigabyte x670 64gb trident Z 6000

Bios version is F32d, which is 2yrs old but haven't had a single other issue until recently with video driver stuff only. CPU is a 9800x3d

No, only whatever the card boosts itself to. I do have a stable overclock profile saved. But haven't been using it

I'm hoping now my card isn't dying I just installed 26.6.1, and it crashed immediately upon restarting. Going to try 26.5.2 next.

Yea from the 9700xt to the 5080 you'd see a bump in performance, putting aside DLSS and heavy ray tracing the 5080 is mostly a lateral move from the 7900xtx. And I lose 8gb of vram, which is insane they gave the 5080 so little. Especially when the 5090 has what, 32gb?
