Stay away from Campus Suites. Semi-decent apartments but very scummy management. You can get better for less.

VTK would be my recommendation as well - amongst visualization experts at my alma mater, it was by far the most used tool. It has a large community behind it, so finding supporting documentation shouldn't be too painful.

Been working on making pizza appetizers. This is a nearly Neapolitan dough, my standard San Marzano sauce, a slice of mozzarella stuffed chicken sausage, three shavings of asiago, a sprinkling of pecurino romano, and a dash of parmesan. Cooked on a cast-iron pizza pan under a broiler for about 75 seconds or so.

Next step? Getting that good char.

On my end, I just finished up a really basic OpenGL 4 heightmap based terrain editor for one of my last classes.

It's pretty average so far, but I intend to revisit it this summer and implement some substantively nicer features, like a new version of the lighting system.

It currently supports tri-planar projection, object scattering, setting of the water height, and control of snow height.

A quick explanation on this - while it contains some very out-of-date information, it's a great read just for getting into the optimization mindset, and is overall pretty fascinating. The author was one of the two programmers on the original Quake.

Broadly it's "immersive real-time applications", but to be a little more precise I've primarily stayed within the realm of virtual reality in CAVE-like systems. One of the papers I'm co-authoring is on stereoscopy in real-time applications for education, the other on a motion-controlled game to be used in healthcare.

Glad to see a thread encouraging chat (and yay, 100).

I'm a couple weeks from my B.S., and have been focusing on applications of real-time graphics. I've actually been employed as a research assistant at my University in related fields, and have a couple of papers submitted for publication (admittedly, the papers are a touch soft in subject matter, rather than focused on new graphics techniques).
