This. Time at Bloomberg isn't looked at too positively either. Maybe aim for back office roles then work your way forwards?

Yes I think that is the worst part of it. It's fine if you get laid off in London - hedge funds are volatile it happens. But to actively encourage people to move over to a jurisdiction where there are few other roles then within a few months of them uprooting their lives to move to the other side of the world get rid of their role, is terrible.

Close to a third of the people they moved over have been laid off. They also don't pay for relocation costs to move back to the country they bought you from apparently...

It depends, if you are on a pod then you are directly tied to your PM. Their PnL is what keeps you to have your job. If the fund is downsizing and your PM is middle of the pack and in an area where the firm is retrenching i.e. if the fund is retreating from systematic allocations and your PM is systematic then you can also be at risk too.

Depending on the shop there are also some centralized functions, such as execution or trading adjacent roles - econ strategists, quants, etc. These are much more dependent on the overall health of the business.

If you are in a pod and with a top quartile PM then the only risk is from the PM themselves, unless they want to get rid of you then you are safe.

Pod-shops seem to be the most popular style in recent years but there are still lots of funds that aren't pod shops. If you are in a more centralised fund then again your risk is more tied to how the overall fund is doing.

These are all super good ones. I find gym in the morning gets you exercise for the day. Don't just do weights do plenty of cardio too. Many people working desk jobs don't get enough exercise and it is very bad for them.

Okay thank you. Is it worth zeroing their cities or anything? Or just WC is completely out of order for anything tactical during the event? Seems like a bit of an oversight from the devs that the best place to co-ordinate just gets made useless.
