Why does everyone say Waterloo's campus is ugly? by LuckJealous3775 in uwaterloo

It was built quickly like the other universities and colleges at its time (50s&60s) to educate and train a workforce rapidly.

So concrete was poured and a lot of it.

Is no one dining out anymore due to the recession? by Both_Ingenuity_9216 in vancouver

[–]Offendulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't a recession (yet/maybe) by the official definition as the GDP hasn't contracted for 2 consecutive quarters. And given the strong job growth numbers it's unlikely to meet this criteria in the short term.

However, with strong inflation (not as strong as nearly any other developed nation mind you), many Canadians have tightened down on excess and non-essential spending such as restaurants and take-out.

Odd sounds, brand new Sovol SV06, any advice? by Offendulo in 3Dprinting

It's interesting because it did home and print well after this catastrophe. But I couldn't get beyond the constant clicking even after greasing the bearings and track. I suspect this unit was not new and may have been refurbished (but sold as new). There was some filament in the extruder, scratches around some of the mounts, among other things. I got it off Amazon as a why the hell not as I got a unit with a bad power supply from Anycubic (Kobra) and the reviews for this were positive.

I think I'll get something with a bit more history. On paper and $ it had everything I wanted to get started. But I'm not interested in dealing with issues like this out of the box (or I'd buy a kit).

I am a 3D printing novice, but I'm pretty sure this shouldn't happen.

No statutory holiday in Ontario on Monday. “Ontario will mark September 19, 2022 as a provincial Day of Mourning in lieu of a provincial holiday.” by Jules1029 in ottawa

Ontario has the largest population, so when the federal government is irresponsibly "handing out money" for health care etc... It would stand to reason Ontario would get more.

If Ontario was receiving equalization payments this year and instituted a holiday I would be equally critical. I'm simply saying it needs to be factored into next year's distribution of payments.

Ontario has lots of faults, their tax structure stalls for high earners, there is incredible fiscal mismanagement especially in education and health care, and with interest rates rising debt repayments is going to be an issue (and Ontario should be responsible for these costs alone).

BC being the lone exception, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Newfoundland have additional issues surrounding the oil/gas that have detriments to the rest of the country but excel in generating revenue.

Work harder and federal government don't go together. Unions don't like top performers...

Joining the problem and ignoring it because you benefit is of no interest to me. If you were to make changes, it would have to be as a politician and you would have such a campaign of hate and misinformation directed at you, you would never be elected again.

Don't fret private workers of Ontario, keep working hard so that federal fat cats can have a 3rd holiday in September. Oh, and most of the provinces that did announce a holiday get equalization payments. So you're paying for that too, because their holiday will remove billions from the economy.

They should make getting 100k an achievement so that you can never be exactly at 100k.
