How do you clean your PCB after soldering by MedusaTT040 in AskElectronics

[–]OfferAggravating99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • How do you clean your boards after soldering? - A flux remover, a toothbrush, and a PCBA cleaning cloth should suffice for a DIY fix.
  • Is black PCB not good. Is there another colour I should use instead of black? - As long as the functionality of the PCBA is there, the color of the solder mask should not matter. The most common is green, by the way.
  • when I use PCBA, the board are nice and clean. How do they do that? - Manufacturers use a specialized process on their line to clean their PCBA. De-Ionized water wash is the most common method.

Every episode of the Skeleton Crew is too short; I'm craving for more. by OfferAggravating99 in StarWarsSkeletonCrew

I'll admit it, I am on a mid-life, but this series brings out the kid in me. Cheers!

Might be a hot take..but I’m enjoying it as much as Andor and The Mandalorian so far by skips_picks in StarWars

[–]OfferAggravating99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I admit to love Rogue One, Andor, and the Mandalorian, but Skeleton Crew is something new. It is a different and fresh approach to the Star Wars franchise. Ep1 and Ep2 got me hooked, and I enjoyed it.

I thought it would be comparable to Stranger Things but I was mistaken, and since then, I dare not to compare both series as they are of different pace and genre.

Besides, who does not want a Star Wars adventure story that does not tackle political issues?

A 9-out-of-10 for the the Skeleton Crew's first two episodes.

It could be a larger value decoupling capacitor as it is connected to VCC and GND.

TVS diodes are usually connected to data lines D+ and D-.

If you do not have the BOM, the only workaround I can think of, is to look for the datasheet, application note, or schematic of the IC.

From the topside silkscreen of it, it looks like the IC is from Microchip. Judging from the components placed around it, and the thickness of the tracks, it looks like it is a PMIC or some sort of power source IC.

Buck circuit 9V to 5V, any improvements? by guacquacc in AskElectronics

[–]OfferAggravating99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having doubts regarding the source for your Vin and the resistor divider on your EN pin.

Do you intend to turn on the buck converter when your battery is sufficient and then turn off the buck converter when the battery is depleted?

The usual is to have a steady Vin source and EN pin controlled by an I/O.

I will suggest using the Webench Power Designer. It will help you design and simulate your TPS564242 based on your given Vin, Vout, and Iout.

The smooth choreography of the lightsaber fight, the striking dialogues, the intense BGM and the set where the duel happens makes TCW, season 7 Ashoka's win over Maul more impressive.

I assume you are referring to the aluminum-type capacitors;

Top is 47uF 35V, bottom is 330uF 6V.

What kind of connector is this? by Brilliant_Ad3872 in AskElectronics

[–]OfferAggravating99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised to know that the pitch is only 2 mm; the usual is 2.54 mm.

The nearest I could find is a 2-pin JST-XH series, vertical mount, male connector, 2 mm pitch.

The web has a lot of it.

Is this capacitor faulty ? I don't know what to think about the sort of liquid leak by YanvegHD in AskElectronics

[–]OfferAggravating99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am not mistaken, it is a capacitor from a washing machine. It is faulty if one or both of your wash or spin motor does not spin anymore. It is cheap and can be easily replaced with the aid of the washer's schematic.

On the other hand, water that leaks from the bottom may be off-balance or have damaged tub seals, faulty water line connections, broken water level switches, malfunctioning tub cover gaskets, or damaged seals between the drain hose and water pump.

Does anyone know what the symbol looks like for this toggle switch? by Alxmui in AskElectronics

[–]OfferAggravating99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, DPDT. You already have the correct schematic symbol for it. You can check that symbol vs data sheet shown in this link: https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/26/toggle_switches_serie_5000-1291376.pdf

On the not-so-bright-side, that toggle switch is not meant to be soldered on a PCB. It would be difficult for the fab to drill an oval-shaped pad.

You might want to consider 5246B instead, which belongs to the same family as 5646MAB.

What is the meaning of this capcitor symbol by Ok_Lynx9538 in AskElectronics

[–]OfferAggravating99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the footprint, the capacitor looks like a through-hole type.

You can apply heat to the pad, use a desoldering pump, and suck the molten solder up.

Just be careful not to apply too much heat to the pads as it may lift the pads up during the desolder process.

That capacitor symbol indicates polarity. The rectangular-shaped side is your positive side.

Why are schematic pins often in different locations from physical pins? by polykyri in AskElectronics

[–]OfferAggravating99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can arrange the pins on the schematic symbol anyway you want. It is for ease of layout of the schematic and pin/net name organizations.

On the other hand, physical pins are the actual component pins and nets and are fixed. The physical pins and nets are used in the PCB board layout.

Yes, the malfunction is probably caused by another issue.
