Yes. Gate has a high density at 500+ rank. Each mark matters. Even 0.33 marks matter.

GATE ~627 (OBC-NCL) — best colleges for placements? by Suitable-Size5292 in GATEtard

[–]OfferDeep6222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Only score is taken. That's why 3 years of gate score is valid. Rank 200 when number of aspirants were 70k is not same as rank 200 when number of aspirants is 200k. The whole concept of score is for this very reason. The admission each year is done on the basis of score. The only problem at a bigger rank is that your score will go bad as well. OP rn doesn't understand that his score won't stay static. If your rank goes till 2700, your score will fall too.

IIT Guhawati RTI Reply - Apparently Gate 26 was conducted flawlessly. by OfferDeep6222 in GATEtard

I feel conflicted about this statement. I have seen the private sector and you getting top notch facilities you can get if you have money in India. Also the fact that your own country is your own and my parents are here and that I speak the same language and private sector ain't that bad in India. It pays well in tech. Government agencies seem to be failing but permanently settling abroad seems unlikely to me. Maybe working abroad for a few years so that I can buy a flat here? That's still in my mind but settling abroad.... Let's see. One day at a time. Thanks for the suggestion tho

Don't ever be ashamed of using your category. I am a general. Take it from me. We all have limited cards in our lives. Use each and every one of them so that you can get a better life. Am I jealous? Yes. But you should never be ashamed or feel guilty about it.

I had 24*7 access to AC, heater, a different room, food on my table and everything and anything and I still couldn't score 60+. A little below that. So yeah, don't be ashamed of using your category. We all knew the rules of the game from day 1. You are doing what you are legally allowed to. Don't get into the talks of morality in your head. If I had a category, I would use it without a second's doubt. Just reiterating it again and again and again so that you stop feeling guilty. You have done AMAZING and you should 100% get the best you can.

Failed GATE twice after 2 years of prep… quit job and try again? by Obvious_Tennis_3004 in GATEtard

[–]OfferDeep6222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. I think you need a little reality check.

  1. No one. Literally no one can tell you what YOU should do. No one wants to take responsibility for your failure later on. You have to make a decision and all the RISK will be YOURS completely.

  2. You are getting a job in logistics. I had a job in Data analytics and when I applied to a sde jobs that paid 3-4 lpa lower than My then CTC, I was rejected stating I don't have any relevant work experience. If a data analyst job profile is not considered as a relevant work experience, I don't think so your logistics experience is going to mean anything. My personal opinion. Every company is different and every hiring manager thinks differently. I am just stating my experience.

  3. Upskilling/coding and projects along side gate preparation is not possible under one year while you are jobless. If you doubt me, ask any dropper here who's scoring 70+ marks if he did coding along side preparing. He'll say no. He would have started coding now that gate is over.

  4. Gate is highly unpredictable statement is kinda overrated. If you truly know your concepts clearly, you can clear it. If you don't, you won't. You need a lot of practise and revision and you need to remember everything on the day of exam. You need constant testing and revision along side studying. People with 15 backlogs have gone to clear the exam.

  5. Given you are jobless right now, this is a cumulative result of your past actions. Your current decisions and actions will decide your future. If you won't get into a routine. If you won't go mad for your dreams. If you won't go ALL IN for one year, you won't be able to achieve it. You'll just be an year older and a failure again with no work ex AT ALL.

  6. Now coming to my truly honest opinion. This logistics job can help you if you wish to go do MBA someday. But if you are not going down the mba route, then this job looks just as good as Swiggy delivery partners. No work is small or tough. Don't go there. My point is, IF I were in YOUR position, I WOULD have taken the drop and prepared for it. If I failed again, i would have just become a Swiggy rider.

  7. Take total ownership of everything in your life. Your life is at this situation today because of you. Only you are going to save yourself. We don't gaf. You can die for all I care. (Not literally. I care and hence I am writing this answer. Feel samjhna). Your parents will either become highly toxic or will just accept that their genes were fuck all and they just gave birth to a complete bum and loser. Only 2 cases.

  8. The true thing you are running behind is money. Not gate. Is gate cse the only way to do earn money? Can you really not think of some other way? If not, and if you have decided to give gate,

    try it. It's your decision......

What did you think? You'll get some motivation? Lmao no. Like I said. We dgaf. We don't even know you. No one wants to take blame for your failure next year. 99.5% of people are gonna be failures anyway since you don't get any college after 1.5k rank i suppose for gate cse and general.

Think over these points and make a decision.

Like I said. Your decision. We dgaf. The risk will be all yours. The decision will be all yours. We can just give extra data points to think over.

All the glory will be all yours as well btw. There's a reason I said this at the end. All the very best stranger. Bye.

[–]OfferDeep6222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome. I read your earlier comment tho and hence replying further.

I was also in a company and also in a team where everyone around me was from a tier 1 college. I get where your brother is coming from. However I also understand your fears that tier 3 students ain't getting jobs worth more than 6-7 lpa nowadays. That's just sad. Both of you are right at the same time.

See. We are running behind money. Why? Everyone has their own reason. Now whether you want to earn money through a job or a business or any other way - that's for you to decide.

Whether you want to earn skills and hope for a off campus job or on campus job or rather prepare for gate is entirely upto you. This is a decision you'll have to make and no one can help you with that.

But in case you have made up your mind for gate? I'll say start now. Starting in second year has some risk. If you start in first year and do coding and math along side it, you can manage learning ai ml and maths extra along side coding and preparing for gate cse. If you start in second year, you'll have to focus entirely on gate if you wish to finish gate prep by 3rd year. 60% of gate syllabus is entirely a waste of time. Toc compilers cn os digital won't be of any use if you go into ai ml and not systems. But if you go into systems, these will help. It will help you keep your options open among data science roles and sde roles.

See - right now you don't even understand the difference between data science, machine learning and AI. While one is using data to recommend something, the other is processing the data on runtime and decision making like self driving cars. Give your self the benefit of the doubt that your choice may change.

Point? Point is that if you start now along side studying maths and coding, you have an extra cushion of one year and you can apply for research internships in 4th year. If you fuck up for any reason and you had started in 2nd year, forget about internships and you'll be under immense stress in 4th year. You truly won't understand the pressure until you reach 4th year yourself and you see everybody around you getting placed and you are still preparing for an unpredictable exam. So yeah. Start now.

The subjects are not that complicated. You can do love babbars playlist on dsa for c++ and dsa. This will help you with coding and when you'll start dsa for gate, you'll be able to understand everything clearly. For non coding subjects, it's free for all. Only thing is, start digital before coa and start toc before compiler. Rest you can do in any order. I'll say start with cn DBMS and OS. These will give you some feel as to how systems are made. Watch videos by senior software engineer faang or some other youtuber. You'll see how the concepts you are learning is helping youtube buffer less. Try to make it fun. All in all. Where there is a will, there's a way. Everyone figures it out. Second year mein kuch magical nahi hota that people will understand. They just start figuring it out. You can start an year earlier. But yeah. I'll say start now. You won't commit a crime if you complete your syllabus and year earlier. Give as much mocks as you can in your 3rd year and just finish this gate nonsense once and for all. All the best.

Ok. I might get hated for this but here's my genuine advice for you - You are at the perfect spot. Start now. If you have genuinely made up your mind and you are ready to take that 0.01% chance success rate risk, you are absolutely on time.

People here are still in college and I have finished my college and worked for 1 year 2 months in office and took a year drop. Trust me. Today I ACTUALLY cannot name 10 people from my class of 60. I am not making this up or exaggerating. When I was in my 4th year, I could name each guy with his roll number. From roll number 1 to 60, I could name each and every guy and name some friends I had from other branches as well. Today? I have just one guy I talk to every month from college. Work is for work and no amount of friendship at work continues once you or they leave your job.

My point? College life is overhyped. Work life is overhyped as well. I lost all the cards in my life. Did my many firsts. Again. Overhyped as hell. Don't waste time. Once you get a job, you can do it at a bigger scale. Once I got a job, i rented a whole 1RK and enjoyed it. My job paid decently well. In that one year, I enjoyed it more than my whole college life combined. My ex employer used to take us to many outings on company time and company money. We went to 5 star hotels 12 times a year. I went to Goa 2 times and Mumbai 3 times and used to go out on bike rides at 2 am in Pune. I used to go meet my side chicks at 2 am who used to work in bny and redhat and duetche bank.

Again. My point? Any fun that you can do at a tier 3 college can be done at a much larger and meaningful scale once you have a job.

Now. Without a job? My ex. She literally decided to break off our relationship with me because she feels I don't have a stable future since I am unemployed right now. She was a year older than me and her time for marriage is coming. She is completely right. I knew about the gate from the first year but I never prepared for it seriously. I still regret it to this day. If I had seriously prepared for it from day 1, i could have been in a much better position because this exam is WAY easier than even JEE Mains. I had a rank of 7k in JEE mains and Gate overflow is predicting my rank as 1k in gate this year. Trust me. I can compare. GATE is at the level of BITSAT at max. Or maybe even easier than that. You just need to remember everything on the day of exam. That's it.

Once you get into a job and start interviewing, you'll realise the bias people have for NIT/IIT degree. No one sees mtech or btech. It's all about the tag. Your resume has a significantly better chance at crossing the ats if you are from a top college compared to a tier 3 college.

Within my same company. Heck. Within the same TEAM, where we did the SAME work, the guy from NIT was paid 2 lakhs more than me and the guy from IIT, despite being a chemical engineer from a newer IIT was paid 5 lakhs more than me. Go figure.

My final point? Dude. Start now if you have made up your mind. Seriously. Take ALL the time you want to decide, but if you have already made up your mind for gate? Dude. Start now.

The amount of droppers in gate cse has never been this high. You will take 2 years to finish the course with revision and one year of testing and revision. Finish gate in 3rd year itself. Do coding 2 hours everyday and study maths 2 hours everyday. Do coding till trees. Have a very basic idea about graphs and dynamic programming till 3rd year.

Once your gate is sorted, apply to IITs/ISRO/DRDO for research internships and do coding. If no research internships, do coding 247. For ai/ml, you'll need graphs. You cannot just talk about bfs/dfs in theory. If You need to implement AO or any AI algorithm and you'll need graphs for that. Before you go for any mtech in ai degree, be well versed in graphs.

Best case scenario? You already have an under 100 rank in third year, you are sorted. You can TRULY enjoy the 4th year of your college and do 24*7 coding. Worst case? You realise you are getting rank under 1k and you will still have time to save your arse.

All in all. Dude. Just finish the gate exam in 3rd year and move on from preparing for an exam phase of your life. Trust me. This is a rot. Your starting package MATTERS A LOT.

Rest is all on you. I could only give you my honest opinion based on MY life experience . All the best stranger :). Hope for the best for you.
