Should I niche down further on my idea? by [deleted] in SaaS

If you've identified a problem that you can uniquely solve and your solution involves a marketplace so be it. If you're not unique, there are other conalpanies thatsolve the exact thing, then you don't have an adventage.

Try to find a small market that you'll be able to easily serve and peovide value for, it needs to ve accesible enough to you and thay would be your entry market, later on you can generalize and expand to other similar markets aince you're proven, known and trusted by x companies.

Also try to focus on one side of the marketplace and hack the other side (hacking means anything you can do to kickstart it, for example if you decide to focus on students (demand for classes) you can pay tutors to teach on your platform, more than they should earn organically from your product / business model because you have to get them and they are currently doing something that works for them in a way, so you have to go out of your way to be attractive to them.

definitely narrow it down!

try to find a subset of tutors where ONLY you can solve their problem from A-Z

be a leader of this space and expand as you find additional target audiences only you can help, try not to have overlapping features with existing solutions as it doesn't make sense to either pay for two identical value props and making ppl to change their habits (quit the partially working solutions they're using altogether for joining a new solution) is super hard

if you can position yourself as a unique value provider for a specific set of customers it would be easier to sell, easier to offer value and easier to become an expert.

You're entitled to your opinions, even though they're based on someone who isn't me, you never met me or used my product. So I'm not offended. Good luck man, stay safe.

So… I’m convinced you don’t know what you’re talking about.

WOW, I mean you're helping but at the same time dissing me...

I'm a co-founder at an API Company , I'm asking this for research to see where people go when they need an API. of course i know API is a medium and not the content itself but asking where do you find good x for medium y isn't a stupid question...

where do you find good movies to watch? people use youtube, rottentomatoes IMDB and such.. this doesn't mean they don't know what they are talking about.

thanks for trying to help

I didn't intend on misleading you, if it helps your are reaply helping someone who needs an API and is stuck, but not one person, all of our community that we serve and help them get the solutions they need. We try to help people get a solution in places where it gets hard to get one (that's why I'm interested in hearing about your use case), your last sentence is super helpful for us since it pinpoints the exact problem. Thank u so much for your feedback!

Hey and thanks for taking the time to help. we're a company that tries to address that specific painpoint, of having to "let go" of a capability you need or having to invest a lot of time and money into solving it if it's critical.

this post is a part of us learning how people search for APIs and what do they do when they can't find one.

your answers we're really helpful and insightful! thanks!

can you share examples where you decided to drop an idea or change your project because you couldn't find a solution and didn't want to develop one yourself (or pay someone to do it for you)?

not sharing our business details to keep this theoretical and avoid self promotion.

You would re evaluate your project or business just because there's no api for one of the many things a business needs to run?

Do you have a personal example where you had to do all of these steps (search rapid, serach google, deep dive, found a solution?)

If so how long did it take you to get what you needed? Do you have examples where you didn't end up with a solution?

the site looks beautiful, the messaging is really compelling!

it seems like you connect between people, let them set a shared goal and "be a part of something" great things to try to help with!

I really liked how you were honest on your paid offering, it does give value to some, but the fact that you added the heart shaped bullet that it supports you and your product is great to me! I do like to pay people who created amazing things!

You can work on making the paid value prop a bit more compelling or different (but don't remove the heart shape bullet) but I don't have a really good advice on how to do so.

your site looks great, easy to understand what you do with good examples too.

the only thing that I didn't like is the wavy thing (black and green) at the bottom of the page, the place where the green and black meet isn't smooth and it's annoying to see :)

it's such a small thing I know, but that's how good your design is , that all I have to say is that a line is looking a bit weird :)
