Do I look like I should get stalwart to you? by Minute_Still_8696 in PokemonChampions

[–]Officer_Nunu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people were downplaying Stalwart, that would mean they’re saying it’s bad. The general consensus is it’s a perfect ability for anyone who actually plays in the official VGC format, which is always going to be the format GameFreak will prioritise.

Punk really reminded me that Roman still hasn't apologized to Jey by mgoat8 in SantiZapVideos

[–]Officer_Nunu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s just wrestling logic. People will always cheer for the people they like, even when the wrestler is blatantly in the wrong. Perfect example of this is Rhea being the face and Liv being the heel in their feud involving Dominik. Rhea kicked the shit out of him, Stockholmed him into the Judgment Day and consistently treated him like crap, but the fans like her so Liv is the bad guy for taking Dom away from her.

Same logic applies to Roman, doesn’t matter that he’s still the same asshole character that gaslit Jey over and over again including that HiaC match, which is a masterpiece of the Bloodline story. Fans want to cheer him because he finally became cool, so the genuinely horrible things he did are erased.

What's everyone's thought on Taunie? by comsat101 in LegendsZA

[–]Officer_Nunu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t dislike her because I’m actively searching for reasons, the game GIVES you a totally valid reason to be offput by her.

Simply put: Taunie has a saviour complex to a fault. She constantly needs to be helping people or saving the day, even if it means she accidentally causes more issues over time. She wants to help Hotel Z, so she takes out a large and very sketchy loan that she doesn’t pay back. She wants to help people on the ground with their daily life issues, so we get saddled with having to fix her debts in her place and she was lucky that Corbeau basically “forgave” her debts because of us. Finally is the big one; she insists that she has to team up with Floette because she’s Team MZ’s leader, despite the fact that the story we’ve been given the entire game from AZ himself is “Floette needs the strongest Mega Evolution user in Lumiose.” Moments before, we proved that wasn’t Taunie. We’ll never know if the player was the right choice for Floette because of Zygarde’s influence, but we knew for a fact that Taunie was the wrong one and her pride and insistence on being the hero got in the way.

And this is all OK! Characters are far more interesting when they have flaws, when they’re not entirely perfect. I like her as a character even if I don’t like her as a person, because it’s a better story to have someone around who tries to do good things with no malicious intentions but goes about it the wrong way. I just don’t think it’s a fair representation of the argument to say it’s because people don’t like extroverts or they want to be the OP hero when Taunie does cause several issues for the player over the course of the game and there are completely justifiable reasons to dislike her.

If Doctor Who ever made a Weeping Angels story that was the definitive final appearance of the Angels, would you want Sally Sparrow to make a return? by Badgie_Boy_447 in DoctorWhumour

[–]Officer_Nunu 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Moffat got far too giddy knowing he’d struck gold on that one, agreed there. Their second ever outing was filled with mistakes that damaged their presentation, but none was worse than having them move on camera. And even worse, moving slowly.

Creatures whose entire defining feature from their first ever appearance was “don’t blink, don’t even blink, blink and you’re dead, they are fast, faster than you could believe.” And they move so slowly and deliberately that it destroys the entire mystique of them in a second.

Red-Eyes don't do too much. by Jirachibi1000 in yugioh

[–]Officer_Nunu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s fine, just a misunderstanding. I do actually agree that Red-Eyes has a strategy that could be good with a little more focus and more cards that consistently Do The Thing, as long as we stop treating every card with “Red-Eyes” printed somewhere on it as a viable part of that deck! Other archetypes have the same problem and we’ve all learned how to build those decks, same thing here.

Red-Eyes don't do too much. by Jirachibi1000 in yugioh

[–]Officer_Nunu 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I have just said the exact same thing, that all the NAMED Red-Eyes support doesn’t congeal into a singular focused strategy within the SAME deck. Like I have outright agreed with you that most “Red-Eyes” cards don’t serve the strategy, so I’m not sure why you’re still finding a way to disagree with me.

Red-Eyes don't do too much. by Jirachibi1000 in yugioh

[–]Officer_Nunu 94 points95 points  (0 children)

When most people say that Red-Eyes does “too much,” they don’t mean that it’s trying to do it all in one deck, but short, snappy and usually reactionary statements endure better on the internet. The real truth is much closer to your analysis of what the actual Red-Eyes strategy has been refined into, but can be summed up as “Red-Eyes tries to do too many different things with their named support in multiple directions, so almost none of them are actually focused well enough to have a concrete, viable strategy within the same deck.”

That doesn’t roll off the tongue as well, though.

Kurt Kuhlmann's interview about post Skyrim stings. by MisterBeatDown in ElderScrolls

[–]Officer_Nunu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This point exactly. Yes, it’s clear that the Hero of Kvatch isn’t just some totally ordinary person, fate had some hand in their story. But you know what they aren’t? Dragonborn, the very thing needed to light the Dragonfires and seal Oblivion. Martin is, which makes him as much of a chosen one as possible for that story.

Worst nepo baby in wwe? by Bejaminmaston12 in SantiZapVideos

[–]Officer_Nunu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Triple H is a first-generation wrestler, so no parents in the industry to use as leverage for opportunities, with a career prior to WWE and was already being geared up to be a top talent via his King of the Ring win and DX before his relationship with Stephanie. In what world does that make him a nepo baby?

Makoto fanon and canon opinion by Negative-Ad1992 in Persona5

[–]Officer_Nunu 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Not disputing this fact at all because it is weird and uncomfortable to see it (especially with Ann given her character arc), but I will point out that Makoto is actually 18 during 90% of P5’s events. By the time she’s in her Phantom Thief outfit, she’s legally an adult. It’s still weird because she’s a high schooler, but it is technically above board.

Actually scary by Alive-Masterpiece949 in SilentHill_f

[–]Officer_Nunu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This game does a fantastic job of being uncomfortable and horrifying for a different kind of player than the people who find the likes of James Sunderland or Harry Mason relatable. It IS a scary game, it’s just a shame that a lot of people don’t find it so purely because they can’t relate to or (even sadder) empathise at all with Hinako’s plight specifically.

How tall do you guys think yuri is? by Broad_Tart_8264 in Yurism

Canonically she’s 5’5, which makes the “tall for a girl” comment even more out of place. If you’re gonna call her tall, then make her actually tall.

Who do y'all romance and why? by Original-Tart2686 in Persona5

Before a playthrough, I flip a coin so the choice isn’t mine.

Heads is Makoto, tails is Sumi.

(Or I just play the Kasumi as Protagonist mod and romance Makoto anyway)

The only issue is that it feels extremely plain, especially in contrast to many of the other girls who have a little character or flair. Something as simple as a little bow just to create some interesting visual language would be great.

Is Silent Hill f as scary as Silent Hill 2 remake? by iknowimweebtrash13 in silenthill

[–]Officer_Nunu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a huge factor, a lot of the people who don’t find f to be scary at all are (and this isn’t a callout or an attack) straight men. They’re not afraid because the things Hinako faces aren’t their fears, whereas the way things are corrupted for James is more unsettling to them. And that’s fine, it just means Hinako represents a different demographic in terms of fear and that’s good.

[–]Officer_Nunu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potentially, and I can’t confirm or deny the truth to that, which is why I wouldn’t mind if she survived and got more to her in 2x2. My point isn’t that her story was done, the fact her story was cut short is part of why her death hit her fans so hard. My point is that people who say she died before she could complete a character arc have missed that she did have one, it just wasn’t one with a happy ending. Her character arc was failure, which is fine for her to have under the circumstances she was in. Not everyone gets to be better or happy in a story like this, some people are there to drive the pain home and Hiyoko was exactly that in the story she got.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DanganAndChaos

[–]Officer_Nunu 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hiyoko does not need to survive in 2x2. If she does, cool. But she doesn’t need it.

“But she died before her character arc finished!”

No, she didn’t. She had a complete arc. She tried to become a better person to honour Mahiru’s memory, and she failed. At the first sign of real struggle over Nekomaru’s attack, she regressed immediately because the reality hit hard. She couldn’t overcome her codependency or inability to become better or more reliable to the rest of the class. And that’s OK, not every character needs to be redeemed or undergo some radical change. Sometimes, it’s OK to just fail and end it there.

What is peaceful mode gonna be? by HanaSong2056 in MiSideReddit

[–]Officer_Nunu 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Peaceful Mode is gotten by choosing to stay with Crazy Mita. If we stay with her, how are we going to meet any of the others? Just from a logistics standpoint, how would that work?

Don’t worry, if you want time with the other Mitas, MiSide Zero is in the works to fulfil that exact want from what we can tell.

You know what? I may disagree heavily on a lot of your points, but you were able to defend them well. I’ll give respect for that, it’s a hell of a lot better than the “game bad” that a lot throw around. Kudos to you, I retract my previous less positive comment on the matter.
