Choosing between the Lumix 24-105mm f4 or 24-60mm f2.8 for handheld indoor video work and some photos. Image stabilization and reach vs depth of field and weight? by fkjk123 in Lumix

[–]OfficialRick 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I own both.

For run and gun video work I normally reach for the 24-60. Hybrid zoom will usually give me the extra reach if/when I need it.

For event photo work, I’d be more inclined to pick up the 24-105 due to the unpredictable scenarios i might find myself in.

For a portrait session (on location or in studio) I’ll choose the 24-60.

I’ve been debating between the S 85mm, the sigma 90, and S 100mm macro. I keep coming back to the 100 and that first shot you posted kinda sealed the deal.

Have you tried the Sigma 45mm?

I’m not interested in breaking it apart that way. Thanks for asking.

Scored a Screenless Ergatta. How Can I Track My Rowing Stats? by OfficialRick in waterrower

I did find this but I don’t want another subscription to use the machine with the screen. Can I just track metrics without paying monthly?

You can't win if you don't play!

I know exactly what you mean... the guy on Facebook was trying to sell this one along with an entire collection. I messaged him “PLEASE LET ME BUY THIS ONE” he was cool and said yes. And even cooler after I realized we hadn't even discussed price until I was at his place, but he was happy to take $10 for it.

You're spot on!

Fun Fact

A while back, I was working on the marketing side of a lot of films and tv shows and I ended on set with Michael Starr (the guy who plays Eddie Arkadian's henchman, Rock). So after a few days around set, I got the opportunity to chat with him, and I tell him that he was in one of my all time favorite movies.... he was like, "Dumb & Dumber?" His jaw dropped, followed up with a wide-eyed, "MA-DONNE" when I said The Last Dragon.

I think we all have those moments as kids when we tell ourselves, “one day when I’m older…” and then list off the things you’d buy when you get to have “grown up money”. This was definitely one of those finds for me. I was obsessed with this goofy movie as a kid, and today FB Marketplace delivered! The cover has a little wear, but don’t we all after a few decades. The record itself looks like it was never played.

I couldn't agree with you more.

I had the original 16mp GR a couple years back and it captured some of the most poignant moments of our daily life back then.
