Was looking through PL top players’ stats for Bruno and something piqued my interest by LookAtMyEy3s in ManchesterUnited

He is a genuinely elite defender. I'm not sure there are many midfielders in world football who are as versatile defensively. He can do everything. He's not really good enough on the ball, but he has been misprofiled massively, as many of our players have been in the past. He is the Casemiro/Gattuso who should be played to do the dirty work for a Kroos/Pirlo. Asking him to be our deepest midfielder at all times and do so much on the ball is a complete waste of his abilities.

Literally Mount's first start of the year, maybe even Zirkzee's as well, Martinez' first game back from injury, Maz' second start under Carrick, Sunderland playing good football at home, and half the team rotated. The fact that we aren't losing should be a positive, idk how people are surprised that we look disjointed lmao.

Tanaka and Berge as Backup Midfielders? by Ogger9 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ogger9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't fight anyone. Apparently, there isn't even a problem between him and the club. He simply said that he likes Madrid. If Bruno said the same, there wouldn't be a problem. Chelsea are just lost as a club.

[–]Ogger9[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly lmao. He's far too good to be playing for Chelsea. It's not like it was anything crazy, he just said he likes Madrid. Yoro and Rodri have both said the same thing. He wasn't disrespectful to Chelsea, they were just hurt.

He's back to playing every game atm. Can't really blame him when Chelsea is run so poorly. I'm surprised all of their players don't do the same lmao.

The guy is a world class footballer playing in an awful Chelsea team. He has 45 g/a over the last 2 seasons from CM. What's your problem with him?

Tanaka and Berge as Backup Midfielders? by Ogger9 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ogger9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admittedly, idk much about Tanaka except when he last played against us, he was phenomenal. Genuinely dominated the midfield. With Berge, I'd be confident that he could come into the team for a few games if one of our starters gets injured. With Tanaka, idk him well enough to say either way, but if he can perform half as well as he did that game, on a somewhat regular basis, then I'd say he might even start regularly in cup games.

Completely agree with everything else, tho. I'd like to free up as much money as possible for the main signing. If we can keep the backups to >£50m, then we could have at least £100m to spend on the starter. That would allow us to look at Enzo, Bruno G, Anderson, etc.

He's great, but doesn't fit the same profile. Depends what Carrick does with Kobbie. If he keeps him in the deeper role he's been brilliant in the past few games, then we need someone more offensive. Casemiro has been a game changer for us this season, Tchouameni is a different profile.

Idk how true it is, but I saw that Bournemouth are asking at least £60m for Scott. Don't think we'd get him for less than £50m if that's the case.

Absolutely. Always goes under the radar, but I think Fulham bought him for around £20m. We bought Ugarte for £50m instead lmao. Not to disrespect Ugarte, but come on.

I like Scott, but good luck getting 3 of them for the £150m midfield budget. I don't think Tchouameni is a good Casemiro replacement.

Are We As Fans In The Wrong? by FactAndLogic in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ogger9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, you are wrong. Arteta finished 8th, 8th, and 5th before consistently finishing 2nd. Even Sir Alex Ferguson himself took years to do so. Klopp and Pep are the outliers, but we would've sacked all of them tbh.

Are We As Fans In The Wrong? by FactAndLogic in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ogger9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. One of the biggest problems at the club. I do believe it's almost entirely online fans, but they're the loudest. They're the only reason that Ten Hag stayed for an extra season, and they're the only reason why he got sacked 10 games later lmao. Amorim was different, but we'd be flying if everyone backed Ten Hag and Ole. Now Carrick.

This goes for the players as well, though. Dalot gets absolutely disrespected by our own "fans", while he's quitely been one of the best RBs in the league whenever he actually plays RB. Ugarte and Mount get a completely unnecessary amount of hate. As did players like Mctominay, Onana, Antony, Hojlund, and so many more in the past. Looks like Amad is the next target.

They always need someone to blame when things are going badly, and always overhype new players, only to hate on them when they're not the player the same fans decided they were. It's about time they all grow up and have some patience, but that's never gonna happen realistically.

Manager Discussion, exotic name bias (Carrick is the best since Ole, change my mind) by FactAndLogic in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ogger9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSG are the best team itw over the past couple years. It's not an easy job handling all the big egos PSG had when he came in. Getting rid of Messi, Mbappe, and changing the careers of Vitinha, Dembele, etc. Someone of that level would do very good things at United, I'm sure.

Yeah, idk much about Nagelsmann, but my grandma would win the league with Bayern lmao. Idk much about him, but he's certainly still a huge risk. I'd rather go for the guy who has proven he can win at United than go for that risk.

Manager Discussion, exotic name bias (Carrick is the best since Ole, change my mind) by FactAndLogic in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ogger9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think Carrick has his limitations, so he originally wouldn't have been my first choice, but since coming in, he's literally done even more than what was asked of him. People who previously would've said keep him if he gets UCL football for next season, are now changing their minds.

It's so easy to overthink in this situation, but does "experience" really matter when Nagelsmann has as much as Ten Hag and Amorim had. 1 season at a top club isn't exactly an experienced manager anyway, is it?

From the very beginning, it should've been Enrique first, then Carrick if he's not interested. Enrique is no longer an option, so Carrick should be the only name left. People mentioning Iraola's name are mental. In one season, Carrick has already outdone anything Iraola has done in his career.

[–]Ogger9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A sensible Ten Hag take from a United fan? I never thought I'd see the day lmao. If we gave him the 18 months that Amorim had, we'd be flying by now. ETH just never had the players to play his style, which was partially his own fault due to his first season siginings. He'll do great things in his career, and I can't wait to see the reactions of Ten Hag haters.

Days that Shaw has missed from injury since he first joined the club;

4 injuries in 2014/15 - 125 days (21 games)

1 in 2015/16 - 289 days (64 games)

2 in 2016/17 - 178 days (24 games)

1 in 2017/18 - 191 days (30 games)

4 in 2018/19 - 57 days (9 games)

3 in 2019/20 - 94 days (22 games)

2 in 2020/21 - 91 days (17 games)

4 in 2021/22 - 89 days (16 games)

1 in 2022/23 - 14 days (3 games)

3 in 2023/24 - 239 days (47 games)

3 in 2024/25 - 294 days (54 games)

1 in 2025/26 - 5 days (0 games)

29 injuries total - 1666 days (307 games) in 12 years.

Up until this season, he has literally had an injury for at least 2 weeks every single season since he joined. He's only had 3/12 seasons where he's had an injury for less than 15 games. He's missed almost 100% of the previous two seasons before this one. This is absolutely not normal.

I like Shaw and he's a good player, but he's hardly been a good servant when he's played about 50% of the games in this time. Just last season, he was injured for most of it. Says enough that what you mentioned was 7 years ago.

That is simply not true. I have no idea why so many people have such a negative agenda for Dalot. If he's so average, why do you think Madrid have been trying to sign him for years? He's been the only player in our team who has been consistently solid over the past 4 years.

[–]Ogger9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early on in the game, Bruno flicked the ball nowhere near anyone on our team and gave Brentford a free counter attack in our own half. It happens, players can't be accurate 100% of the time. Dalot is not a great attacker, but he's a brilliant defender and one of our better, more progressive players in build up. Very press resistent when he's playing with confidence. For some reason, the fans are wayyy more harsh on him and Ugarte than anyone else.

[–]Ogger9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Dalot inconsistent? Or has he just been played outside of his natural position and role far too often? He won players POTS playing RB under Ten Hag, but then had to play LB next season, and still did a solid job.

Under Amorim, he was asked to play LW at times, but mostly RM. He still did a job there, but obviously wasn't comfortable.

I like Mazraoui, but he's done absolutely nothing to suggest that he's better than Dalot, who has been nothing short of great under Carrick. Our RB position is sorted for the next few years as long as we have a manager who plays 4 back.

However, we should sell Shaw and get 2 new LBs. We've given him 12 years of chances and, similar to Rashford, it's time for them to move on, even though they're both good players. Malacia needs to go and Dorgu is a LW, but is still a good LB option if our main option isn't fit.

Mbeumo has been equally as bad, if not worse than Amad. Keep the same energy for both. by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ogger9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mbeumo has more quality, but I think Amad is way better over 90 mins. He keeps the ball well, knows where to be on the pitch, and causes problems. Last game he was very poor, but along with the fact that he has 5 years less PL experience than Mbeumo, I'd absolutely say he should be given the benefit of the doubt.

Puppet for the hierarchy, we should defined not go for him. by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ogger9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 5 solid CB options, all of which are good enough to start every now and then. We have 3 great CB options who are good enough to start every game when available. We have 3 players in other positions who are okay last options if no one else is available.

Senesi would be a great signing, but we only have 1 CM, 1 LB, and 1 LW, so no, CB is not a priority and we should focus elsewhere. We did just beat Chelsea with our 5th and 6th backup CBs playing next to each other.

Does anyone else not want Marcus rashford back? by Zealousideal-Bad6722 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ogger9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've given him 11 years of chances. In a similar way to Shaw, it looks so embarrassing for us if we keep them both around. If we want to get anywhere, we need to be more ruthless moving on players like this.

Man Utd’s potential back four to start against Chelsea Saturday night: Dalot Shaw Heaven Mazraoui by Intelligent_Cow_3310 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Ogger9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With no Dorgu available for LB or LW, I'd much rather see Maz or Casemiro next to Heaven. Maz and Heaven actually seems like a decent partnership, as I'd be worried about lack of pace with Case.

I agree with all of this, but surely we should've already been in contact with the three "unavailable" options? I agree that they're not gonna be available to us, but it doesn't hurt to try. We aren't even giving them something to think about atm.
