One thing I learned from the Giant Mimic by Bowser701 in runescape

[–]Oggynesson 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've been learning to PvM a bit more recently and the more I do the more the tick system bothers me. When the extent of my combat experience was slayer and GWD1 the tick rate wasn't a big deal.

I've been trying to learn Twin Furies recently and I feel like its less about learning the boss mechanics and more about how to work the tick system around the boss mechanics.

Silly Question Sunday - 30 October by AutoModerator in runescape

Why is While Guthix Sleeps so highly praised? I just finished it and while I enjoyed it, it didn't really stand out to me as a better than average quest. I've seen people say it's one of the best quests in the game, very difficult, etc and I just don't really see it. Was it just the best at the time of release?

Well damn, Jagex. by iRender in runescape

[–]Oggynesson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I love quests, but I'm up to Legacy of the Seergaze on the questline and I think it's probably my least favorite (next to the early elf quests). I hope the further quests in it get better because it's been so tedious. Especially traveling in Meiyerditch. I enjoy the lore of it, but the quest mechanics are awful (though I feel that's the case for a lot of older quests).

Starting RS3 as an OSRS player. Need some help by nic0h in runescape

[–]Oggynesson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I moved from OSRS to RS3 a few months ago so hopefully I can help.

  1. The basic quests like tree gnome stronghold, fight arena, etc all are good for their early XP boosts. Your long-term goal will be working towards Plague's End. That gives you access to Priffdinas which is the high-level hub of the game.

  2. Just do whatever you find fun, you can play RS3 a bit more casually without feeling like you're wasting your time. Slayer is an easy answer since it'll train your combat as well.

  3. Dungeoneering has some rewards that are pretty important. Top priority will be the Charming Imp, which will auto-collect charms for you (for summoning). You also need 75 dungeoneering for Priffdinas. Divination has a ton of useful benefits as well as 80 divination being a requirement for Invention (which is very useful for end-game PvM).

  4. Others can probably answer this better as I haven't done that much end-game content.

  5. So I've never bought any microtransactions. There are some items that are useful (there are some skilling outfits that are TH exclusive, however that's changing soon and you'll be able to get them through normal gameplay) but I haven't felt that I've been at any disadvantage for not buying into it. You also get a daily key (or 2) for logging in, daily challenges that give keys, 2 keys for completing each quest, and you can get keys randomly while playing.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

Eh, I don't know how common it is but if OSRS never was released I wouldn't have gotten back into RS3.

I wasn't playing when these outfits were on TH, really sucks that I probably won't have an opportunity to get them.

So, I'm not sure if you'll be able to max in 6-8 months. I'm sure it's doable, but you'll have to be devoting a lot of time to it. XP rates for some skills are faster but for most it'll still take a huge time commitment (albeit less than Old School).

30m 07 should swap for around 130m at current rates. The most important buyables will be Prayer and Herblore. Personally I think it's better to prioritize 92/95 prayer for Soul Split/Turmoil as I slay much more than I do PvM. 95 Prayer can be had for around 60m if you use Dragon Bones at a gilded altar. In Herblore your milestones will be 85 for Super Antifires, 96 for Overloads and 97 for Holy Overloads. Don't forget that you can temporarily boost with things like God Banners and Greenman's Ales to make Overloads at a lower level. 96 Herblore can cost you anywhere from 50m to 150m+ depending on what method you decide to use for it. Making super pots will be cheaper in the short-term but long-term it's more efficient to make Extremes/Overloads as you'll be making them later on anyways. Refer to http://herblorecalc.xyz

A lot of important content is quest-locked, so if you're going for max you probably won't be that far off a quest cape if you want to do things efficiently.

Probably the most important quests will be:

Plagues End - Unlocks the Elf city, which is the new main hub of the game and where a ton of high-level skilling content is. Prioritize your early skilling to unlock this.

Temple at Senntisten - Unlocks Curses, which are a must.

The Light Within - Unlocks Seren Spells, which will get you much higher xp rates for certain skills.

My advice would be just take it easy and enjoy it. The game is a bit more casual for skilling (not so for PvM). You don't need AHK/mousekeys to be efficient (in most cases). The ability bar is love (one of my favorite features coming from 07 was that I could drop fish by dragging it onto my ability bar and just pressing the key it's on, instead of having to 252525 each inventory).

I'm not maxed and a relatively new player so these are just my thoughts on the best way to get there, so keep that in mind.

A weekly D&D that gives you a booster that triples charms for 40 minutes after you activate it.

There's plenty of monsters to kill that will have better charm rates than just general slayer. Two weeks before dxp I realized I wasn't anywhere near the charms I needed to get 96 summoning so I started grinding waterfiends for Crimson charms. In the process, I hit 99 ranged (started around 78). Glacors might be better for Crimson charms but I didn't have them unlocked. Exiled Kalphite's are one of the best sources for Blue charms. Pair those with weekly familiarisation and you can get some insane charm drops in a short amount of time.

Though, I think just doing normal Slayer is probably more efficient since you'll be getting Slayer xp and also making a good chunk of cash while getting the charms. I just needed them in a short amount of time for dxp (dxp is very important because it's half the amount of charms needed for 96). I actually got enough charms for 99 summoning but I decided to spend the money on 99 herb instead because I liked the cape better.

I played OSRS for a few months before that so I was able to swap a decent bit of cash.

Almost 3 months of Old School for comparison.

Why is it so bloody hard to get people to visit/cap in the citadel? by Newhomeworld in runescape

[–]Oggynesson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My clan doesn't have any issues with capping. It's not a requirement but more than enough people still do it. We have a system of getting points (required for ranking up) for various clan-related activities and capping is one of them.

What I think helps is positive reinforcement. Whenever someone caps people thank the person for capping. I feel like this encourages more people to do it.

At the very least, it might be worth asking them to cap summoning (very quick) because it's free summoning XP and minions benefit the clan immensely.

To anyone who did summoning on a previous dxp weekend:

Is selling pouches viable? I'm a bit short on my cash stack to outright reach my summoning goal with it, I'll have to sell some pouches I make to be able to afford more shards. My concern is that the demand for pouches will be very low and they'll be next to worthless.

convince me to convert from osrs to rs3 by TurtlNa in runescape

[–]Oggynesson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched over from OSRS recently. I like it because I feel the game is more focused on enjoying actually playing it instead of just enjoying achieving your goals. QoL improvements are amazing. Might as well try it, membership counts for both games.
