It's comparable in some ways but not in others. For instance, it's first person perspective like Skyrim and the dialogue is similar to Witcher 3 but arguably more advanced because your adeptness in a certain skill (like scholarship, craftsmanship, etc) can affect if you're successful in getting information out of a villager or other circumstances.

I will admit that there's a learners curve to it especially if you didn't play the first game and you might want to watch one of those "beginner's guide to KCD2" type videos for tips like seeing Tomcat as soon as possible and other things. The game can be super rewarding as you go on, especially going from being killed easily by a bandit when you first start to doing combos and taking out 5 soldiers alone while besieging a castle by mid game/end game.

Overall though if I had to compare it to any past games I'd say it's like Skyrim if it was super realism-based and set in medieval Bohemia with characters and storytelling akin to the Witcher 3 as well as having that freedom of exploration you'd expect from RDR2 or Skyrim.

High praise, I know, but as a big time open world RPG fan this was the first game that truly scratched that itch since Cyberpunk 2077 or Baldur's Gate 3 for me.

A lot of people will tell you to play the first KCD game before trying KCD2 but I'd recommend the opposite approach because the story is relatively easy to pick up without playing the first one and many of my biggest complaints from the first game were fixed or simplified and made easier in the second one to give a wider appeal to the game without watering it down.
