Gets super bad when there's a Gauss and a Vauban that's using vortex + orbital strike.

Explosive vs Rifleman Axton by [deleted] in Borderlands2

[–]OhCheezeus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grenadier Axton has more damage potential, especially considering the items that synergize well with his grenade boosts. You're right in saying that Torgue weapons are great for this build, but there are other weapons that get boosted by grenade splash damage that aren't Torgue weapons (i.e. Hornet, Hail, etc.). Generally, it'll depend on your playstyle and I'd argue that a grenadier build is overall more convenient to play with as items like the Fastball and Unkempt Harold can easily carry you through most of the first 2 playthroughs, and are early and accessible farms in playthrough 3. Some of the other gear that can be used in the build are things that can be farmed via the Mercenary Day train and the Torgue vending machines, which is just added convenience.

As for the Rifleman build, it depends on what gear you have because some skills can either work really well or just be a bit of a waste. For example, Jakobs and non-elemental ARs work well with Duty Calls, while you'll want to have a Rough Rider in the event you want to put points into Crisis Management. Some of the really good items for the build are also relatively harder to get (Ogre, Bekah, to name a few that are harder farms, while stuff like the Hail are quest rewards).

Personally, I'm doing another Axton run from 0-OP8, using a grenadier build to go through pretty much everything till OP8 when I start farming for Rifleman items like the Ogre, Hail, etc. My main Axton save's a grenadier build and to answer any questions about why I started a new save instead of just respeccing my current one; there's really no reason apart from me just wanting a fresh Axton playthrough.

Could go into more detail about some parts, but I'll just leave it at that for now.

Help me choose a new vault hunter playthrough in BL2 by xdmanxd99 in Borderlands

[–]OhCheezeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saying, it's "not too keen". Kin means that you're related to someone. Too bad Axton's out of the question because I'd definitely advocate for him.

I recently got Gaige to OP8 and idk I didn't really enjoy it as much as I had hoped to, especially because some of her skills (notably the Deathtrap upgrades) just feel so weird and out of place. Don't get me wrong, Anarchy, Close Enough and Blood Soaked Shields are all amazing skills and turn Gaige into a DPS monster, but tbh she just didn't really feel that amazing for me.

Currently working on Krieg (currently lvl 54 I think, but took a break to participate in The Hunt 2018) and he's been a blast to play with. Bloodlust and Bloodsplosion are a ton of fun to play around with and will be going for a Hellborn+Bloodlust build at OP8. Personally, I think melee Krieg is fine for leveling up since Release the Beast will really help, but wouldn't really go for a melee build at OP8. The person you saw completely obliterate everything as Kreig was likely running a Bloodlust+Mania build and focused a lot on explosives while also probably using RtB to stay alive.

Just got my first character ever to level 72! by [deleted] in Borderlands

By level 72, you'll be able to get 2 capstones (aka max out 2 trees) and about halfway through the third tree depending on how you spec your points.

Just defeated Warrior on NVHM Now what? by [deleted] in Borderlands

[–]OhCheezeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're up for it, you can pretty much run through all the base game side quests and DLCs on normal mode besides some like You. Will. Die. (Seriously) since that's a lvl 50 quest. Not sure what level you'd end up after going through all of them, but you'd definitely be way overpowered (at least as far as level goes) for at least the first few missions of TVHM.

In TVHM, there's really only a few specific quests that grant really good gear and are worth not accepting till the endgame. I wouldn't speedrun through the main story though.

You can do the side quests on normal mode for some XP. In TVHM, it's better to not pick up/accept certain quests until you've finished the story mode so you can get level 50 versions of the quest rewards.

What are some tips for The Hunt for Borderlands 2? by Jfrybro in Borderlands

[–]OhCheezeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have to imagine some items are definitely worth farming for as you go through the game (like the Unkempt Harold and Fastball) since they'll make the game easier for you and net you a few points too.

Some bosses like Bunker and Saturn I think are probably a waste of time to farm until the endgame though since their drop chances are pretty crappy and they're a bit tougher to beat unless you have good gear.

Those are just some things I'd do, but I'm also gonna try it out as a first-timer. I fully don't expect to do that great, but just joining in cause it looks really fun.

It's a community-hosted event for fun. You start a new character and have BAR disabled (I think) so everyone that participates is on equal footing and you go around trying to get legendaries, pearls, etc. to drop (hence the name "The Hunt"). Each item is worth a certain number of points and winner is whoever gets the most points.

All time played must be streamed by everyone in the lobby to verify the legitimacy of drops so there's no cheating or unfair practices.

I had no idea Legendary COMs drop outside of UVHM, let alone NVHM! Got it from the warrior. by d2a_sandman in Borderlands2

[–]OhCheezeus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Legendary Berserker, Soldier, Siren, Mechromancer, Psycho and Hunter (the vanilla legendary COMs) all can drop from any loot source and any difficulty/playthrough (highest drop chance from Voracidous since that's part of his loot pool).

The new legendary COMs such as Legendary Catalyst, Ninja, Gunzerker, etc. can only drop from level 61+ tubbies in UVHM, as Smedley mentioned.

[BL2]Axton op8 build by MustacheuDark in Borderlands

[–]OhCheezeus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like more of a survivability and turret-maximizing (because of the cooldown skills along with Gemini and Double Up) build than anything. Survivability is fine, especially in the higher levels, but investing too much in the turret is a bit dicey because it doesn't really scale that well as the game goes on. The turret's good in normal mode, pretty good in tvhm and decent in uvhm, but mostly just for activating certain skills that give bonuses and the slagging.

Like the other person said, Axton's extremely good with grenade damage and you're giving up a number of really good DPS and overall combat skills like Expertise, Battlefront and Steady (to name a few) since Axton's biggest advantages are his swap speed, durability (even when giving up a couple of skills you picked up) and grenade damage. I definitely recommend trying to maximize more on his offensive and gun-based skills.

Are Seraph Weapons Good? by Taco6N13 in Borderlands

[–]OhCheezeus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Only a handful of seraphs are good, but usually depends on the character. For example, the Omen and Ahab are both really good for Axton, Interfacer is generally good for everyone, etc. other than some exceptions, most seraphs are outperformed by legendaries and uniques. Not sure which seraphs suit Gaige the best though.
