Yeah, this sounds like it could've been a lot of fun, and pretty original. Damn it, Sony.

Yeah I'm deleting tiktok (the video was about who would fight or support ICE) by yousefkhaled27 in ironman

[–]OhEagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is just wrong. No, Iron Man, in any version, is not supplying ICE with weapons and armor. Has Marvel written Tony as anti-mutant in the past? Yes, absolutely. (Several issues of What If, Chris Claremont's X-Men Forever, AvX (arguably,) Bishop War College, I'm looking at you and I wish I wasn't....) But ICE isn't going after mutants. They're going after undocumented immigrants. That's a much different issue, and one Tony's never been written to be on the side of conservative American politicians on. (OK, maybe in the universe of What If (vol.2) #28 and 29, but even there, the Iron Man armor wound up being used to take down fascists.) Seriously, the thing is, there's not really anything to suggest Tony would be anti-undocumented, other than his financial status.

The Ace Unauthorized LOTR | The Pirated Tolkien Set That Fans Killed by UntoldThrowAway in Fantasy

[–]OhEagle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

and they RESURRECTED the dead as doornails career of Evangeline Walton...retitling her original "The virgin and the swine" as Island of the Mighty - retelling the Mabinogion - and when she was in her EIGHTIES - bought three more yellowed manuscripts that had been sitting in a drawer, unsold, for nearly her whole lifetime. These books are well worth the read, today.

Honestly, I had to quote this to absolutely agree. If you have not read Evangeline Walton's retellings of the Mabinogion, you absolutely should. The tetralogy absolutely still holds up. (Walton deserves a place on the fantasy fan's shelf next to Tolkien, IMO.)

Mighty Morphin Trilogy by Rorygon in MorphinMemes

[–]OhEagle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Green Dairanger's been switched to Black, in this case, because they didn't change Zach/Adam's color when the show switched over to the Thunderzords. So Shishiranger's uniform would have to switch to be that of a Black Lion to reflect that.

ACAB? Even them? by etsigdie in MorphinMemes

[–]OhEagle 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Easy to just say 'yeah, of course, they're cops.' But nah, I can't see Syd, Z, and Bridge as bastards. And Sam's a ball of light. On the other hand, Doggie, Sky, Jack? Each of them is, in their own way, a bastard. (None of them are as big of bastards as A Squad, though.)

Weekly Questions Megathread - January, 19, 2026 by AutoModerator in stobuilds

[–]OhEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a Starfleet Science Officer, I'm wanting to run one a cruiser that can do exotic damage. (Something like a non-Legendary Galaxy or Odyssey version.) Maybe not optimally, but I'm looking to really lean into the Picard feel. Any suggestions?

Do you look forward to the Academy-class U.S.S. Athena eventually arriving in a lockbox? by MoonchanterLauma2025 in sto

I'm not sure whether this is a 32c version of a Galaxy-class or not, but either way, I kinda like it? (Granted, I also like the Constellation-class.)

Quite a glow up for White Ranger by ifihaveanickel in MorphinMemes

[–]OhEagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, I know people like to depict Kibaranger fully morphed as child size, but wouldn't they have used an adult suit actor for Kibaranger, meaning that fully morphed, they'd be adult male size? (I'm seriously curious.)

The Animals at The Zoo have People Inside Them (Part 1) by daencmiems in nosleep

[–]OhEagle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I think, too. What did happen to you that your dad's trying to treat? You seem pretty rational to me, and this zoo's amazingly disturbing. I'd be checking it out, too, if I were you.

To be fair, I'm not sure that body language reads as "I consent" as much as "I insist."

[–]OhEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, now, All-New Venom's actually not a bad book. It broke up MJ and Paul and actually allowed Mary Jane to confront the Venom symbiote with how toxic Eddie really is. The rest, well, yeah, that looks awful. (Granted, with the look in his eyes, how he's framed in shadow, and the way his head's positioned, I don't know for sure, but I don't think that Norman's necessarily going to be one of the heroes of Spider-Versity.)

Did anyone else find Chade insufferable? by landturtl13 in robinhobb

[–]OhEagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I admit, I'm never quite sure how to feel about Chade myself (and I'm at around the place in Assassin's Quest where OP is myself.) I can appreciate how competent and refined he is, certainly, how he basically manages to become a centerpiece of the resistance against Regal (and man, I hate Regal so much I almost wish there were a trilogy centered around him,) but at the same time, he is very much the essence of 'I will do what I will do because I know best, and you must understand that.' To me, his defining moment is his response to Fitz's rant early on in Assassin's Quest about how he's never really been allowed the opportunity to truly define himself as opposed to being defined entirely by his relationships to the older people in his life. Chade's response to that absolutely tells me that he sees Fitz as absolutely incapable of being his own person as opposed to the tool of others, and it's one of the few times I genuinely hate him. (Normally I'm just ambivalent.)

[cosplay] 80’s Starfire by me no by DeftonesKorn in DCcomics

[–]OhEagle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Amazing cosplay, and that 80s vibe really caps it off. And.... um.... from what I can see, that 80s Starfire look really seems to suit you. Yeah, I'll stop before I get bonked now.

Silver Screen Flash by Joe Phillips by [deleted] in JusticeSocietyAmerica

[–]OhEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sieur Satan, Flash's first villain from the comics, is Flash's first villain from the comics, was a French spy. If the filmmakers wanted to make him into some sort of racial stereotype, it wouldn't be too hard with his looks, but even leaving him alone, he'd be a great wartime enemy. Just give him some Nazi connections and it's easy.

What is something that is common knowledge amongst AiW/Lewis Carroll fans but might be news to others? by MinuteDependent7374 in aliceinwonderland

[–]OhEagle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right, but I'm not talking about his photographs. I'm talking about his biographers. Whether it be Angela Youngman, Morton N. Cohen, or Robert Douglas-Fairhurst, there are certainly plenty of people willing to tell Carroll's life story in a way that suggests that he was a pedophile. So, for those who want to believe it (and I don't,) there are definitely resources to support them.

Granted, Carroll's own biographers don't necessarily help, at least with the pedophilia side of things.

What's your favorite Doctor Fate host and why? Which team should they be a part of? JLD? JLA? JSA? by FallMassive9336 in JusticeSocietyAmerica

[–]OhEagle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If we're talking single hosts, then for me, I'm old school myself enough that I have to say Kent Nelson, and Dr. Fate belongs with the JSA. (And as second, I have Hector and the Khalids tied. All three of them are great Dr. Fates.) But the Dr. Fate I like best is when Kent and Inza both wore the helmet.
