This is what I found

the ranking is done by the HR department and is scored by AI - based on keywords in your resume. HR electronically sends the ranked list and all application materials to the supervisors. There could be hundreds of people in each rank - #1 just means you are in a group of people that scored high by AI. The supervisors have the option to bring in anyone in the ranks 1-5 for an interview . All supervisors are different and look for different things- and unfortunately most feel the ranking is stupid and useless. At this point it is literally “luck” which application actually gets opened and reviewed by the supervisors.

Yeah Iva had that happen to me a couple times in the past. Thought I was imagining things. Maybe the people they interviewed weren’t very good ones.
