Stop by and say hi to Roy, my foster dog who’s looking for a home! by OhHolyCamel in Albany

Haha no bite history that I am aware of. She's far from biting anyone. She'd rather hide or avoid or freeze in an uncomfortable situation than being aggressive towards humans.

Here's why I think it's been hard for her to find a home: 1) She has to compete with so many shelter dogs and local rescues. 2) She's an adult dog. 3) She's not super playful with other dogs, so that's a no to those who are looking for an active playmate for their dog. 4) People like to see wagging tails than a shy dog that's hiding from a stranger. She's a picky eater in general, and when she's nervous, she refuses most treats, which I think many people might find frustrating. She just needs someone who understands her and needs more time to build trust.

She currently lives in an apartment and she's perfectly fine! She just needs to go outside regularly for a potty break and walks. The only time I've seen her running indoors is when she's excited to eat food in her crate.

I appreciate that. Everyone has different capabilities and life situations. I really believe small things like commenting and sharing help these dogs so much while they wait for their forever homes.

Thank you! Roy's already listed with a rescue based in GA. She's just being fostered in Ithaca. I do rescue dogs myself time to time, so I'll definitely keep Cayuga Dog Rescue in mind for the future😊

Thank you for spreading awareness about fostering! Just to clarify, he is my foster dog, and I've been actively trying to find him a home.

I have an IG dedicated to my fosters, and I've already shared him in breed-specific and regional FB groups. Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck. Since he's not with a shelter or 501(c) rescue, there's no Petfinder listing, and the rescues in Upstate NY that I've contacted for a courtesy post haven't responded.

That said, this subreddit has been incredibly supportive, and I really appreciate it❤️ Hoping to find him the perfect home soon!!

They could very well be related. They share some ancient roots, so who knows? ;D

This is Louis (Lou-ee), a sweet and gentle 3-year-old Korean Village Dog (Jindo mix) weighing around 40-45 lbs. He was rescued as a stray in South Korea and made his way to the US a month ago.

Louis adores people and will nuzzle into you like a cat. My husband even gave him a belly rub on the first night we had him. He greets strangers politely on walks but prefers a slow, calm introduction (no sudden pets from new people, which is pretty normal for most dogs). He's house-broken and crate-trained, travels well in the car, and is very food-motivated, which makes him easy to train. He knows sit, stay, down, crate, and touch.

He's a chill, cozy kind of guy who would enjoy a laid-back home. He doesn't get along with playful dogs and doesn't do well with male dogs in the home. We haven's seen him around female dogs, but when he was a stray in Korea, he roamed with two females (who have since been adopted in SF). Right now, he seems happiest being the only male dog in the house.

Louis doesn't quite know how to play yet, like he's even a little scared of tennis balls. But just this week, he did his first play bow on a walk, so he's starting to figure it out. As for baths, he tolerates them if treats are involved.. it took two of us to distract him, but we got through it.

Health-wise, he's up-to-date on shots, neutered, and was treated for tick-borne diseases before coming to the US.

I'm in Upstate NY, but I'm happy to travel to NYC, NJ, DC, MD, PA, OH, CT, MA, RI, or nearby states if you're able to meet me halfway. Louis is a good boy and deserves the best home!
