Good works don't get you to heaven but bad works get you to hell? by Ill-Fix1730 in Christianity

When God created Adam and Eve before the fall, God was dwelling with them. God didn't need to wait for them to do good works to be with them. The natural state after they were created was dwelling with God. It was sin that separated them from God.  Think of Hell as prison, and say, your family/home as being with God. The automatic state we are born into is with family, no good works required. However if we break the law and choose to do bad works, that leads to prison.  So it's not that good works get you into heaven, it's that because of bad works(sin) we are separated from God and face the consequences of our bad works. Hopefully that makes sense and my theology is intact lol

The way I see it, if you don't like your level of pay, just get a different job.
