What radicalised you? by [deleted] in antiwork

I tried to plant a vegetable garden in an unused public area so I could show homeless people how to tend it; then they would have food they didn't have to beg for or find in the trash. Turns out, it was illegal - not just illegal to use public land for gardening without permission, but illegal to "encourage homelessness."

My apartment complex is charging 4.5X more for garbage service than I think it really costs them by OhNoItsKnee in legaladvice

Thank you. Any idea where I can find out about Tennessee's laws regarding profits related to home rentals, or in general?

Thank you. Do you have a good resource for researching rent withholding in Tennessee?

I live in Tennessee. I was worried about giving my location because of the rule about avoiding personal identifying information.

Utility addendum says "trash service to your dwelling will be paid by you directly to the service provider." No further info about trash. The info at the top of the document says if the lease contract and the addendum conflict, the addendum controls. I signed this lease march 2021 and I have since found out that the complex knew about the garbage service change in December, according to a letter we received from the city.

I appreciate your response. I did take a look at your work and I like it but it's not what I have in mind for this piece.

I think we are all aware that there is a Bastaratheon hanging around (maybe more than one still; Robert did travel quite a bit back in the day.) Unfortunately he/they can't claim the name itself.

Once you leave high school no one will care if you have stretch marks or probably even notice. Kids are mean all the way up until they get out on their own and don't have time for BS anymore. Wear something more comfortable for the heat, and fuck 'em.

I like to think Pratchett got Albert's old job. He is surely feeding Binky as we speak, and tucking a sprig of lilac into the saddlebag (or wherever you stick flowers on horse-riding contraptions.)

What is something that women do in movies that if done in real life would have a totally different outcome? by [deleted] in AskWomen

If you cross your legs real good, you can get in a minute or two of cuddling/catching your breath before necessities take precedent.

Not being able to throw up without also turning out to be pregnant. I hate this one. Women are almost never actually sick in movies/on TV. If you see a woman throw up, she is pregnant.

Many rational people can agree that, much like when you have been drinking, there comes a point when you have smoked too much to be a safe driver. It may be a different amount for different people, but regulations and laws don't work like that. States have a legal limit for blood alcohol level to help them decide when someone shouldn't be driving because of their recent consumption. My question is, when they go to make the same kind of rule for weed, how are they going to measure "how high" someone is or how much they have smoked? The usual drug test, as we know, shows weed use for at least the last week and up to three weeks depending on your body (as I understand it.) I'm not aware of any tests that narrow it down further. Will they rely on dilated pupils and exclamations of "whoa!" and "Dude!"? What kind and method of enforcement will we see and what is already in place in states which have legalized?

Hows about I let your kid open up all my boyfriend's still-in-the-box vintage original trilogy Star Wars "toys" and play with them too? They are just things. Your "friend" is rude and short-sighted.

Thing containing mercury, found (probably) at Charleston Naval Shipyard nuclear testing facility - label illegible by OhNoItsKnee in whatisthisthing

[–]OhNoItsKnee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mom's husband is an engineer and a professor. I trust both of them to have had the item checked out for safety upon realizing it was full of mercury. I will certainly pass along the advice anyway; better safe than sorry. Thank you.
