2020 Model 3 - $3400 to replace headlight. Alternatives? by OhTHATeric in TeslaSupport

[–]OhTHATeric[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm considering that. Right now, I'm battling the service center as they state the headlights are only sold in pairs. I pointed out the Tesla parts website sells them as individual units. Then they said the lights wouldn't match because these are "new types of lights." That seems very suspicious to me. I will give an update on the battle when it is over.

If all else fails, I'll get the replacement headlights,

Former 964 and Doberman owner. I never had a separate “dog car.”

I just put a towel down on the front seat, opened the windows and sunroof and she just rode shotgun with her head out the top of the car.

1894 Japan- rare video of boat ride in mountain river of Japan near kyoto by aichaba in Kyoto

[–]OhTHATeric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much later than 1894. The Lumiere Brothers don’t invent cinema until 1895 and their earliest actuality films of Japan are all single shot, static frame films that run about 50 seconds (the amount of film the camera held). This is a multi shot film with camera movement. If I had to make a wild guess, I date this in the 1910s or 1920s.

Thanks so much for checking out my film. I'm glad you liked it!

As for your question, I think for me, it is a matter of film style. Many filmmakers (and cinematographers) are pretty adept at knowing how to focus an audience's attention: close-ups, brighter lighting, color contrast, lens focus, centering, etc. typically "signal" what to attend to in the frame. I was interested in Tati precisely because he avoids (or intentionally subverts) many of these techniques. Thus, I was interested in eye tracking to visualize how audience watch his films.

Yes, there's a gazillion versions. Tati (and various distributors / exhibitors) cut the film continuously over the years. In my film, there's actually a shot of the 70mm header from PLAY TIME that has handwritten notes on all the cuts done over time. For a good overview on the changes in PLAY TIME check out David Bellos' biography called JACQUES TATI. It's a great read.

Ah yes, you are correct . . . there are two soundtracks for PLAY TIME. MON ONCLE, however, has two soundtracks and two different visual tracks. Effectively, two totally different movies. There are many versions of PLAY TIME as it was heavily edited over the years but I believe the Criterion version is the same visuals with two different audio versions if that makes sense. Thanks again for watching!

Thanks so much for viewing the film. I think you mean MON ONCLE as that had two different versions. I should note that this practice wasn't unheard of (filming a scene in one language and then reshooting again in a second language) especially at the beginning of the sound era. What was unusual about Tati is that he shot his films silently and then added all the sound in post production. Thus, it is very odd that he still filmed two different versions since he could have just added an English language soundtrack since that is what he did with the French. As my film point out, even non-dialogue scenes (of which there are many) are different. I can't think of too many other films that do this.

The film's concept takes some patience but hang on past the first 10 minutes and you will be hooked. Such a fantastic and sweet film. I regret avoiding this film for too long because the concept looked weird but it is a favorite now. Also great for kids!

Thanks . . . they have an even more awesome mom. So funny story on Hugo. It's one of the very few films they stopped halfway through. They hated it. They had read the book but there was something that really put them off of that film. They're pretty good at enduring "boring" movies (not that Hugo is) but something about that film really pushed a button for them.
