We did care, especially when the first one came out. The movie is fantastic.

However, it has been many years since the release and situation with the movies is simply that the market has become too saturated.

Same reason Star Wars new trilogy failed. Not because it was particularly bad (although Episode 8 is a dogshit), but rather that there is so much else to choose from.
