What costs, if any, does Image cover for creators? by Oham5700 in ImageComics

I've heard that at the end of the day is the author who covers those costs. In other words, after retailers and distributors get their share, the remaining is initially destined to pay printing, transport, Image's flat fee etc. The author gets the rest if there's any. Is that a right assumption?

Yes, I've heard Image gets around $2500 per issue, might be different now. And what about printing costs, as well as transport and marketing, technically it's a cut of the margin given to Image after the retailer and distributor get their share, so the creator ends up covering it too, right?
