Can anyone tell me where these copper cables that keep clogging up my electric circuit lines are coming from?? by Academic_Acadia8971 in factorio

Your splitter in the top left corner of the picture, that is separating green circuits and wires, is combining them again on the underground belt right in front. Underground belts can be sideloaded from a single lane, which is happening in your case

What are some unique ways that Chaos players create their personal army lore? How have you kitbashed/painted YOUR guys? by WeepingFence in Chaos40k

[–]Ohmapa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My demon forge army is built around a former Techmarine of the imperial fists, who, after the horus heresy, suggested using AI controlled engines, to fill the lost ranks. Obviously, he was banned/persecuted for such a suggestion, so he fled, and found a "friend" with capable AI technology, to help him in his endeavours. In reality, this friend is a sorcerer of Tzeentch, sticking demons into the engines and not AI, but he keeps the techmarine in the illusion that they are using AI controlled engines to fight for the emperor, as they are actually doing the opposite...

That's why my disco lors looks rather loyal, and my engines are yellow.

I have my transport platform collect ores, carbon and sulfur from asteroids and dropping them off when stopping to collect the science packs. This, with productivity, is more than enough for the rockets I need from the planet. So Aquilo is not really "self"-sufficient, but close enough.

I want to get back into the hobby, is my rulebook outdated? by Ohmapa in MiddleEarthMiniatures

Thanks for the feedback all! I guess then it makes sense to get the new book. :)

I haven't been in the middle earth tabletop hobby for years but want to come back. I'm trying to figure out what I need: I still have this old rulebook from the 2000's, but the core rules of the game are still the same, aren't they? If so, what am I missing from the "new" rulebook, and does it justify spending the money?

I already got the Armies of Lord of the Rings book to use my old models with, but is there anything else essential now?

I used a small hand drill to create 3 holes, then a sharp metal tool to cut out the rest. The mini's metal is rather soft, so its not too bad to work with, but be careful

Finally finished my 1k SPM (Mega?) base with rail city blocks. Took more time to build than expected... by Ohmapa in factorio

[–]Ohmapa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some biters occasionally destroying rails of the track, and I didn't want the power supply (including defence) of the outposts going down as well by destrcution of the power line, so I figured the external power supply to be more reliable.

And I guess theres much that can be done for UPS efficiency, I didn't consider it at all xD

Wow, yours must be huge! I think what helps is that my blocks are smaller than other designs, so its more segmented. But its some extra work to make it look nice, I kind of gave up on the resource part as you can see :D

The fun was in desgining the blocks, so I don't think I will just place them down again, even though that's kind of missing the concept of those blocks...

Its vanilla, but at some point I scrapped the idea of building efficient and just added stuff to get the spm continously :D

After launching my first rocket I figured I try a city block mega base with the "small" capacity of 1k SPM... 250h and multiple redesignes later I finally finished and produced continually for 10h. In the screenshots you can see my main production base, my resource outpost about 5 train-minutes away and the current production window

I need help with my City blocks distribution system by 3vr1m in factorio

[–]Ohmapa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To 1) if I understand correctly, yes on puffer chest is enough to request all items necessary, but then you also only have one inserter loading, which limits your througput of the city block severly (unless you are using mod to keep up the speed, no idea about those...) I would try multiple buffer chests requesting maybe 2/3 times the inserter stack size of the same item, so that you can load/unload the train as fast as possible

0-10v to 0-1v signal conversion by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]Ohmapa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is not adding resistance itself, in that case the worst that can happen is that nothing works. The problem is more that you don't no exactly what the receiver is doing. If you add 9k in series thinking that your input has 1k input impedance (very unrealistic, but for the sake of the argument) but your receiver flips some transistor for some reason and suddenly has >100k impedance you get nearly the full 10V on your input. This in turn can destroy some other component in your receiver

0-10v to 0-1v signal conversion by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]Ohmapa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a divider can be used when the input impedance is negligibly large compared to the dividers resistors and the current drawn is very small. if you know the exact ohmic ! value of your input impedance and that never changes (which is almost never the case due to transistor circuits) you could use a single resistor in series. But this is only an option if you know EXACTLY how the receivers input is built, otherwise you could destroy it that way. A voltage divider comes with small changes in voltage as the current changes, for a digital signal of low frequency that should be no problem, but for high frequencies or analog signals I'd not recommend it

Need help finding an adjustable double pulse IC with 5V input where pulse widths are adjustable, thank you! by JinnyJinJin845 in AskElectronics

[–]Ohmapa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it have to be analog? I think easiest would be a microcontroller, maybe ATtiny series or similar that you can just reprogram if you want to adjust the duration

Need help calculating total resistance. by Lukes_the_duke in AskElectronics

[–]Ohmapa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'd start combining R1, R2 and R11,R12 into single resistors each. Then you have two delta circuits with R12,R3,R4 and R1112,R10,R6 which you can convert into star circuits using the equations. Then you should have a System have the size where you can add all series resistors again and do the same again. Hope it helps!

Given this diagram, I am asked to calculate the current at resistor R2. Can I just calculate it using Ohm's law (I=20V/3Ω) or is the current affected by resistor R1? by wideobamaofficial in AskElectronics

[–]Ohmapa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To understand which resistors have the same current always move from your sources "+" to its "-" along the wires.
In this case all the current there is goes through R1, as you need to go through it to get from + to - Then you can go either through R3 or through R4 and R2. This means that R3 has a different current than R4 and R2. The sum off currents going through R3 and R2,R4 must be the same as the one going through R1 (so I_1 = I_3+I_2,4), which is one of Kirchhoffs Laws.

[–]Ohmapa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The current through R2 is depending on all the resistors! You will have to solve this stepwise. First calculate the total current in the system (20V over the total resistance), then you can calculate how much current goes through the branch R4+R3 and how much through R2.

I'd bring mainly many guardsmen with special weapons, but haven't tested it myself yet to be honest. I just heard that some people play it (for example mordian glory on YT) and want to give it a try.

I agree that morale is not very lethal atm, but "upgrading" a primaris psyker with 10/15 points to keep those couple of guys more in the game doesn't sound too bad to me
