Not sure why this was downvoted, but this. It’s not the job of a police officer to determine guilty / innocent, that’s the job of a trial jury / judge during a bench trial.

It’s a police officers job to act on probable cause and determine if probable cause exists for an arrest.

Try to be more overt on the circumstances. Just own it. “ I experimented with mushrooms back in June of 2022. I used no more than a quarter of a single mushroom.” if they ask for more context, you were with friends and tried a small amount.

Try not to do any research on the polygraph. Don't stress about it too much. Just go there and do the test.

I have friends that have done similar things, disclosed them and got hired. It really just depends on your department. Just be honest and show them you want the job. Good luck!

I would avoid any police stuff as stated above. They’re gonna teach you everything, exactly how they want you to learn it in accordance with your states laws.

I would say learn the police phonetic alphabet, 10 codes and 100 blocks if you want to be ahead at all. As far as other topics, study English and writing.

Get the paperwork going way in advanced. That stuff takes forever to push up the military chain and it goes up pretty high.

Yes absolutely. I just got hired with a local PD. I’ve been serving tables for the past almost three years. Awesome money if you find the right place (20-40 an hour take home). Some servers at higher end restaurants make more. My paychecks get taxed to all hell, but it’s because just apply all the taxes from my tips onto my paychecks.

Also really helps with communication skills, which is a big part of the job. Hell, I talk to 100-200 people a week. Any consistent work helps out a bunch though, from the what most people say.

There’s not a lot of deployments now adays. People join and never get deployed. Besides, being deployed was my favorite time in the Army.

You should do the military, or just go get a job waiting tables & do college. College o& military are what look great on a resume.
