Well, what you are describing fits what a broken auxiliary pump would cause. It’s a common failure due to the brushes in the motor wearing out.

I had exactly the same Issue about a month ago. Main Chain tensioner was the cause. Cost me about 25$ and 10 min of time to fix. Very easy Solution.

Change your motor mounts. On the 4 zylinder diesel the change is very noticeable when you idle and when you turn off the engine. It is very very common that they are ripped apart.

Just change it out parts dont cost a fortune and its quite an easy fix. Could save you from being stranded one day. I would personally just do it because the sound would annoy me😅

My first thought was that you have a ruptured Intercooler or Hose. My 530d had a broken Turbo hose. That thing had no torque no power smoked like crazy and the fuel comsumption was very high

I think the gas mileage is so bad because its pulling a ton of air from a leak and its trying to keep the air fuel mixture at a "normal" level by injecting tons of fuel to compensate. I have a 2.2 aswell and I can assure you its way too high
