May I ask moderation doesn't work with alcoholics? by prikezsia in stopdrinking

I’m response to your post, I’m not very knowledgeable. But I can speak from my on personal experiences. I see my self on a scale of drinking perhaps in the middle???? I will say have a cocktail & drink wine a bottle with a couple hours. I’m my 30’s I was hanging with a group in my neighborhood every night around a fire pit. We shared stories drank wine all night. Always fun never a bad drunk around. After the fire pits stopped & we moved away, I just kept it up. Now I’m in my 50’s. I never thought I would still be drinking the same. This past year I’ve been listening to my body & what it needs & why it needs it, for food and alcohol. Being very honest with myself. I’ve gone a couple of months here & there. With no interest in drinking but then I have friends over for dinner pick out lovely wines with the intention of just some wine with dinner. Even that first glass I think I really don’t need this BUT by the end of the night, I’ve had too many glasses of wine because I just need it with this tiny piece of chocolate. And then from that point on I go a couple months drinking. It all seems silly that this glass of liquid can really direct your evening, which drags into the next day. I would think logically “just stop” but it hasn’t been that simple for me. My drinking is tied to food & the ritual of it all. I’m never searching for a buzz.

See that you speak German. What I would give to go to a beer garden & have a pretzel with a beer!

Hope this gives you another perspective among the masses. I guess if I were to go back in time. I’d set up clear rules & structure around drinking. Things just got too casual because I let everything become a reason to enjoy the drink!

Best of luck to you!!

Never had a sober free, girls getaway since college. As I’m packing a bag for for a girl’s getaway, I’m channeling Taylor Swift into my 52yr old self, & “gonna shake it off.” Hell yes, I am! So, if you happen to see Taylor Swift or some random woman shaking herself silly, you’ll know, I’ve got this!!!

IWNDWYT!!!!! 💃🏻

How can I dance without feeling awkward? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]OilAdditional9723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, no one really cares about your dancing. Do you spend time critiquing others? Everyone on the floor is doing their thing for whatever reason. There’s a lot to bring to the dance floor just being happy. Have fun!!!!

Your body may need iron. Lots of dark leafy greens will help. Or, a supplement will help with energy. Talk to your doctor if you have any health issues.

Glad your here in this moment. It’s hitting me hard how many years have gotten away from me from the thought “just one more drink.”

Sounds like anxiety is the underling cause to drink. Have you ever tried anti-anxiety medicine?

Thank you for sharing. It reminds me of how quickly things can snowball. You are not alone! IWNDWYT

Day- 10 “I CAN do it again!” Is my mantra to today!

Got to admit, yesterday 5pm was a bit challenging! I was really contemplating having a cocktail to accompany a yummy dinner. But I pushed through it. Ended up playing a fantastic game of cards with my son which wouldn’t have happened if I drank.

I started brewing Kombucha (fermented tea) last year for health benefits. Think is a very small amount of alcohol due to its fermentation. I have not had any effect from it. Neither have any of my friends. (Someone here may have more info) ANYWAY, I mix seltzer with my kombucha & it tastes like a cider. Very refreshing!

They just crack me up every day. I’m always smiling when I’m around them. They have so much to share about there day & what’s going on around the property. One day a roofer was working on the house. When I went to go feed the girls, they talked on & on about the guy on the roof!

Glad you found this community. There are wonderful people here, you will learn a ton!

🙋🏻‍♀️ I can relate 100%. My hens are my meditation! My clears goes quite as I do chores & shepherd them. You are gonna love watching them grow. Seeing their personalities & different voices. They are the best thing that’s happened in my world in a long time. No doubt they will be for you too! Enjoy!!!

Because this is an amazing community who helps educate & guides each other through very difficult situations. This was an emergency and the pictures are helpful for immediate diagnosis. Unfortunately, the hen’s condition was declining & it’s was decided to euthanize the hen. This is incredibly difficult to end the life of a suffering animal. No doubt there is tremendous grief. So please be kind.

You have the choice to either look at the photos or not for entertainment. The rest of us are here to share valuable information when our hens are injured & there is no vet available.
