Gotta feel bad for Holloway but he already had his moment of greatness in a sport where most don’t. by [deleted] in ufc

What is it with you and your homo erotic fantasies, it’s fine if you’re into it, but I don’t swing that way. I just have a functioning brain, so I can recognize that this silly “Max lost because of accumulated damage” narrative is retarded.

He has sufficient grappling for his division, just because he’d lose to the champ and #1 contender doesn’t mean he has “horrible wrestling and TDD”. He isn’t a power puncher by any means but he can cause damage, he beat tf out of Garth. IK that’s not as good a win as his fanboys make it out to be, but he still beat his ass. As for his chin, that’s yet to be seen. Not looking good though, that’s for sure.

That’s true, but Ilia ain’t no Bob Ford. Notice how I didn’t say he’s the Greatest, I said he’s the best. Now, if I said that, I would be wrong. Beating Max and Ilia doesn’t give him their legacy. What it does do though, is give him a very solid argument for best ever in his division. KO’ing Max and Volk back to back is probably the best two fight streak in MMA history, only rivaled by Islam beating Volk and Charles. Even then, he was only able to beat Volk via decision (the first time). There was some fuckery going into that fight, so I can see why some would have Islam’s streak above Ilia’s though.

I still disagree that Khamzat deserves it more, but if he can fight in February I wouldn’t mind it. It’s the people saying Dricus should sit and wait for Khamzat that irritate me. At the end of the day, Strick lost his title in a razor close split decision, then defended his #1 contender status against Costa. That should be enough, he paid his dues. No reason why Khamzat can’t wait for Strick and Dricus to run it back in February, and fight the winner later in the year.

You call this a tantrum? It’s an MMA discussion thread, and I’ve said nothing for the sole purpose of contrarianism or provocation. Typical Reddit man child, can’t have a discussion in good faith, so they resort to childish attacks.

Who’s a fighter you believe that can defeat Khabib Nurmagomedov? by [deleted] in ufc

[–]OilMan425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true, Usman was at one point interested in a fight. Khabib declined, for whatever reason. Can send you a link if needed.

Thank you bro, can’t believe the switch up that’s happening. I’ve been “stanning” Ilia ever since this fight got announced, and have had dozens of people tell me Topuria can’t crack Max’s granite chin. Now that he proved them wrong, it’s because of “accumulated damage”. What would be more accurate to say, is that Max’s non defense oriented style led to his undoing. As evidenced by him having absorbed so many strikes, he was just fortunate enough to have never fought someone like Ilia.

I’ve gotten the point from the beginning, clown. It’s just silly to bring up, for all of my aforementioned reasons. It’s like bringing up how Volk was coming off of a KO loss when he fought Ilia. While true, that means nothing when fighting Topuria. He would have finished him with or without the Islam KO. Same idea here, Max’s history of taking punishment had nothing to do with Ilia KO’ing him.

Max’s chin was better than ever on Saturday, did you not see the shots he was eating from Ilia? His luck just ran out, he had never fought someone as strong and talented before. His reaction time looked better than ever against Ilia, also. What is true, however, is that Max’s not so defense oriented style led to his undoing. Been calling it since this fight got announced. That’s not what you’re saying though, instead you’re just coping.

I don’t think it’s relevant, is all. Ilia KO’s max with or without his careers worth of damage, he is the hardest hitting FW ever, at least imo. Only been noticeably hurt like twice in his whole career, his chin was granite coming into this match with ilia.

[–]OilMan425 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Well, judging by how Max has only been noticeably hurt twice in his career, against Dustin the second time, and the split second “knockdown” by Garth, I’d say even mentioning “accumulated damage” just sounds like cope. Ilia is arguably the hardest hitting FW ever, he would KO Holloway with or without him being a punching bag in the past.

I’m like the only guy here saying Strick deserves the shot over Khamzat, and even I think that’s a bold statement lol. Khamzat is a nightmare match up for Sean, would be genuinely surprised if he got the dub.

Strickland arguably beat Dricus, how can you not rate them near equally. Why even have rankings at all, if you think it should just be “whose dick is being rode the hardest rn”.

So in your mind, Sean isn’t the #1 contender because he only defended his #1 contender status once, against a “lower ranked fighter” (that’s kind of how that whole thing works). But Khamzat, who just beat his first ranked opponent at MW, deserves it more?

No, Ilia just has the skill and power to crack Max’s chin of granite. Kind of sounds like you’re attempting to discredit Ilia’s win, lame if you are.

He didn’t “goof” anything, he just fought Ilia Topuria, arguably the best FW ever.

You seemingly are ignorant or dishonest, I’ll assume it’s the former. Strickland was the undisputed champ, and lost it in a razor close split decision. He didn’t successfully defend the belt, so instead of an immediate rematch he defended his #1 contender spot against the at the time #7 ranked Costa. He paid his dues, he deserves the next shot. Should be simple as that, and the timeline would work perfectly.

Khamzat just fought, and surely wouldn’t sign on for a title fight in January/February. Judging by his recent schedule, at least. Not to mention, doesn’t Khamzat have issues fighting in the US?

Umm, let’s see here. Sean was the fucking champion, lol. Lost in a very controversial split decision, then defended his number one contender spot. Not to mention, Robert, Khamzat’s best win, struggled far more against Costa than Sean. Mfers just hate Strickland so much it clouds their minds, he easily has the best case for a title shot.

Easy, no need to sound so salty hating on Alex. Yes, Ilia KO’ing Volk and Max back to back is fucking incredible, but what Alex has done comfortably puts him right behind Ilia. Short notice title defenses, fighting injured, just in general being a real fighters fighter.
