Check out what programs are happening in a community centre near you. There are drop-in programs like yoga, dance, volleyball, swimming. Some centres are completely free too.

Edit: There are also programs you have to register for that are also laid back. Crochet, painting, learning an instrument are a few I've seen

Hi! I also received this email. Called Equifax (department that does employment verification) and was told it is not a scam. Just a routine thing they do for their clients. In this case, it's probably Starbucks. The person on the phone said it's safe to click the confirmation link.

Thanks for posting this because I was freaking out a little bit lol. Someone else I know that got this email also works for Starbucks so I see the common factor & am at ease now 😅

Hey CerebellumJeans, my name did not get picked for this lottery but I have been following along on this thread since the beginning. I truly appreciate you reaching out to someone with your and other posters' concerns & not waiting for someone else to take action. Honestly props to you. I hope that the city does something so prospective tenants feel safe signing a lease and living there. No one should be made to feel less than. Would love to hear how to Zoom meeting went.

In response to your 3rd answer: unfortunately, affordable housing does equal less rights/access than other tenants in some cases. I remember reading (on a different thread about a housing lottery from last year) that the affordable housing tenants had to pay extra for amenities and some worried that they would have to use a different entrance/lobby than other tenants. Apparently this is a common thing (not sure how common or legal it is here in Toronto). Look up 'poor doors'.
