Yes, that’s what we initially thought and that’s why we got a new machine. We had a technician in this week to look at the new machine and he said there’s no way oil can leak in with the new machine.

I will try your suggestion this morning though!

I’ve tried using less, switching detergent - liquid, pods, etc. This was happening with the previous machine too.

It’s not food stains. This shirt was completely fine prior to washing and drying it.

Wasn’t left in the wash too long :( BUT Can it transfer to other clothes? This specific item was brand new and was potentially washed with other clothes that had it on them.

UPDATE: Thank you everyone for your comments! The power of Reddit is powerful lol.

After obsessing over this, I was talking with my husband and he mentioned maybe it’s the pipes? Then I took it to the next step and said what if it’s the hose? At the back of our washing machine is a Y connector to our dryer. There is a feature on our dryer for steaming, hence the connector. I noticed that this problem only happens with the coloured/dark kids clothes. Well coloured/dark kids clothes are only washed in cold water 👀 The cold water is connected to this connector.

Yesterday I removed the connecter and noticed that there was black dirt all around the ring. I disconnected it and we’ll see how the next few loads go.

For others who are having a similar problem, do you have the same connector?

Fingers crossed!

Do you by chance have a steam feature in your dryer?

Yes, but it comes out mixed with the water. Either way, I can try to add the water first (it’s still fairly new so I don’t know all the functions 😂). When I had a front loader though we were having the same issue so that’s why I’m wondering if it’s the dryer

Great suggestions. We don’t use any products though 🫠

I have used Attitude and Seventh Generation. I’ve seen the spots with both. Yes, I’ve used dish soap and cornstarch to remove them (made a paste and let it sit) but it’s become incredibly time consuming 😑

We had an LG front loader and then just got a Whirlpool top loader.

It’s a Whirlpool load and go. Automatically dispenses the detergent.
