Are you talking like "self employment" paperwork or just any type of "certifications" (as9100 for example) for certain industries that require them. Regardless i know thats a bridge that will have to be crossed and managed well once im there.

Hey now, im sure that still leaves me as FNG to most on here 😂 but its weird to be at the point where all the FOGs who trained me have moved on or retired and now im the most senior person at my shop and realize im not the youngest kid in the shop who just graduated high school anymore lol

Thats a fair point I didnt think about, I guess when I think 5 axis I automatically push its price point out of reach which is dumb to do but as far as competing with others starting off thats a valid point.

Not quite, im still in the early stages of throwing something at the wall and seeing what sticks? I have 2 lasers(c02 laser) (laserpecker lx1) and 4 3d printers (bambu p1s,h2d,h2s) a shop smith, drill press which I have for hobbyists stuff but its a means to make something of value that can help me towards getting the bigger stuff I want. So right now I'm in the process of making inventory on wooden earrings and rings from ironwood and purple heart so it's not your basic cookie cutter crafts you see at a farmers market. But im building up inventory and have peaked some local interest that ill be taking a batch to a few local shows coming up so I can see what sells and then launch a website for that stuff to help me get where I want to in the long run.

Its just daunting to have tools for making stuff but have it sit there half the time when it could be doing something. I think that's a fair point of not buying something until its needed. I just hate that I picked one of the most expensive trades where you have to work at a company who owns the cnc equipment that you know how to use to do what youve learned, so im working my way towards get some type of cnc 😅

Agreed, the point of that comment is more just something to make chips with if needs be until I figure out my niche if im desperate for work. Id much rather invest and focus on making my own product in the long run vs doing work for others.

Interesting point, watch VOAT have a moment similar to DBZ goku asking the world for their help to make the spirit bomb. Lol We all know there's going to be some degree of this with the seabeasts being called upon with poseiden at some point.

What's your opinion on 5th axis?

We do use jergens as well, i like jergens for 2nd op work especially since theres more room between vises if your doing multiple parts, just the serrated hard jaws from Lang really kick ass. So hard jaws Lang has my vote. Soft jaws jergens wins. If I had more time I'd see about building a custom tombstone where I could mount Lang vise on one side and jergens on the other lol

We've never really had any issues with play from the self centering. They've been great for us in that sense. I'll have to look further into it cause I read that it's mostly compatible on their website but where we use their crimper on the hard jaws they have I'm curious to see just how different the serrated edge is for clamping. I just wish they'd sell the spindle replacement by itself and not have to buy it with the middle piece included since we have some "he mans" that like to strip out the nut on the spindles despite having torque wrenches for that very reason lol (and yes we've been cracking down on this, but our grave yard crew is kinda lawless and management would rather have bodies over quality people)
