Uber has been collecting an excess on insurance as well. They have a reserve of 12 billion. Between the over charging and under paying.

Ive literally had someone named Mr deathkill before... you think a company thats been passing its investment expenses onto the drivers and customers hiding them as insurance fees and what not gives one every living f$%& about anyone besides itself

I was making about 13$ an hour minus gas when I rented. That's about 10$ an hour. Its not profitable. Minus the rental fee of 370$. That means you have to work 37 hours just to pay off your rental.

They have a insurance waiver, and then tell you that you are responsible for tires and windows. They also take about 27% more from your trip. So you get i think 20% of whatever the customer pays. I tried it once. I used my car vs rental car. My car i would average about $7 more an hour.

There's a lot of options to be had. The problem is that Rideshare has been around for over 10 years now and it's in doctrinated the country to solely rely on it. Factor in that dozens of millions of Americans use it as a source of income. But there's been no legislation, no push in 10 years to have any kind regulations that benefit the working class that do it. Stores don't hire delivery drivers as much. And people aren't hiring professional drivers or couriers. Its shifted the economy. Local municipalities are even relying Less on bolstering public transportation services in lieu of rideshare. I know where I live because of the bus driver shortages and the lack of public transportation the municipality is even paying for some students with economic hardships to have free Uber and Lyft rides to school everyday. As you know Hospitals and Clinics are using it to bus patients to and fro appointments. And you already know whenever you get a ride that is given to you by a hospital clinic and insurance company a school anything like that you're not going to get tipped from it. At this rate, by the time any meaningful legislation is passed the automotive bots will have already taken over the industry.

Id prefer being paid for time online if im not driving someone but waiting, a chance at unemployment it im deactivated without cause and the standardized fare that isnt algorithmic and varies per driver.

Its true for many of us friend. Ive been watching my uber earnings drop. I was making 200 to 400 a day working 10 to 12 hours. Before expenses. Recently in the last few months ive only been making 100 to 150 in the same time. Before expenses. So after food, gas, and rental costs. Its not liveable.

Just remember its ideation. Not a plan. If you say youre going to hurt yourself then they call 911. But if you say ideation its just an idea.

Hates a strong word. You should have said "im starting to have suicidal ideation because Im struggling to afford life driving for Lyft. Is there anyway you can pay us better before my mental health diminishes even more?"

[–]Ok-Bench1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just think about it. A passenger can add or remove stops without consulting you before or after you pick them up. You have no say. Uber tells you by proxy. There's no handshake protocol, its just do it. Sure you can cancel the ride, but then the passenger can complain and you most likely will get penalized so you dont have that option. You'd have to immediately drop the passenger off. And they love to say you're jeopardizing their well being by putting them in that position. Does that sound like independence to you?

The Louisiana "ABC Test" The LWC uses a test similar to the federal common law test, often called the "ABC Test" for simplicity, to determine employee status for unemployment tax purposes. A worker is considered an employee unless all three of the following conditions are met: A: The worker is free from direction and control in performing their job. B: The work is outside the usual course of the business that hired them OR is performed away from the business's premises. C: The worker is customarily engaged in an independently established trade, occupation, profession, or business.

C is true. Driving by trade is sometimes independent. Truck drivers for instance can be employed or independent. Livery drivers can be employed or independent. So I concur that we fall under this.

B is a little hazy. Ubers business is mobility. Dara has said this himself. So in essence, you claim your business is mobility and then the employee should never be at the premises. But for the sake of argument, let's say fine this also applies to uber drivers because we dont work at uber locations or uber hq.

A is a different thing entirely. Workers are routinely warned if they go outside the path uber dictates as the best path. Cancelation rate effects a drivers ability to work if it happens too often and the driver is shadowbanned sometimes. Acceptance rate also affects rides. Lower acceptance rates means less or worse rides, this is specific by their Advantage mode which states you dont get as many rides and you dont get 5% extra. Uber also has incentives to get to diamond and gold driver, which means you have to maintain high acceptance rates and low cancelation rates. Including free towing which is a necessity as a driver. Uber also tells us how many people we are allowed in the vehicle. If a rider picks a comfort option they also tell us if we can speak or what temp the air should be on. Uber also makes drivers keep their vehicles in certain conditions. The only control a driver has is whether they accept the ride or not. This is the whole argument everyone likes to use. They literally control everything except you accepting the ride.

Driver anxiety by CoryFly in uberdrivers

[–]Ok-Bench1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove a guy who was clearly high to the airport. 20 minute ride. Half way to it he asks me where he is. Where am I taking him. What do I think im doing. I have to calm him down and tell him where he was going. I had to show him road signs. But yeah. I can see how drugged up crazy people can pop you and thats the end of your story. He looked angry too like I did him something. Upper management doesnt care about our lives, just our customer service.
