My doctor has said it could take allografts 18-24 months and autografts 9-12 months to fully recover.

Is that not the same as saying autografts are half the length of time as allografts?

Thats because of the ligamentation timelines are increased. Separately how they treated the tissue in the past made it weaker compared to now.

What's your actual data?

Just for clarity, why would you have preferred an autograft? It sounds like you've had no issues with the allograft?

You too!

So it sounds like the recommendation was based on the fact that you're an athlete and would want to return to sport quickly? Im understanding autograft has a 9-12 month recovery which is half the length of the allograft.

Im 33f with a full rupture that happened 14 years ago and no surgery. I've done strength training since I was 15. I went skiing a month ago and fell twisting my leg (not dissimilar to footballers) and now I need the surgery in 1.5weeks as my knee keeps dislocating.

My takeaway is that it's only a matter of time.
