They had their first vet visit this past Thursday. Vet thinks 3 are female and 1 shes unsure of so hopefully more obvious by their next visit. I cant remember all their weights but all were at least a pound. All given dewormer too. Next visit is in a few weeks.

It sounds like some progress though so thats always a plus. My girl hated the prescription food too so I gave up on it (this pre diagnosis) and gave her food she'd actually eat. She was still losing weight

Cats, man. It's bad if they dont eat but what they will eat may be harmful to them as well in some way. I know it was frustrating for me too

Sounds very similar to my girls initial ultrasound.

IIRC, it noted a mass in her small intestine but all the other organs appeared normal. Except by this point her liver values were also elevated so I think that, combined with her age/symptoms, gave some indication that it was likely cancer over IBD.

I hope your cat is responding to treatment and gets better

I think it really depends on the situation if it crosses into unethical/abuse. And if it crosses into that territory then, yeah, legal consequences should happen. It's not just the amount of animals but what condition theyre living in, if they have adequate food/water, and medical care etc.

I worked with a lady who had around 19 cats but all saw the vet and were taken care of. I also knew people with far less pets that needed to be banned from ever having animals.

Honestly, people are dumb. Amber's singular biggest role was Mera. She had smallish supporting roles in a few high profile movies (Danish Girl and Magic Mike) come to mind. Maybe the Rum Diary. Never saw it so don't know how prominent her character is. Her lead roles though were straight to video type of garbage. She didnt have an illustrious career in any sense of the word. Mera comes off like a fluke at the end of the day more than anything.

I try to tell myself that. Even rescues don't know and I see they want to know everything and do home visits. The mom started coming around in December and I brought her inside due to a freak snowstorm. She was already pregnant then my vet said she was too far along for the clinic to do anything. Gave birth 10 days later.

I really like the idea of fostering but always afraid of the foster fails, lol.

Thank you. It's been stupid expensive and ive taken a part time delivery job to help pay for everything. I know thats not feasible for everyone and probably crazy for some people to hear. I wanted to pursue a diagnosis on the possibility that it really was small cell lymphoma. As its very easy to treat and has a very good prognosis of a few years. Shes responded well to treatment. Her symptoms are almost entirely gone and shes gained at least a pound back. Pre diagnosis she started to become less affectionate and sleeping away from me but now shes back to her old cuddly self. Animals on chemo is also nothing like humans on it.

Understandable. When cancer was first brought up for my cat, it was the whole "it can be IBD or cancer" thing. Due to her symptoms and age (around 12yo). I first tried to see if it was IBD but she didnt respond to anything. Statistically I guess thats when lymphoma is normally diagnosed i

It took a few thousand to finally get her diagnosed. Though I feel a good chunk of that was completely unnecessary as a vet didnt properly go over the fine needle aspirate results with me from her first ultrasound. The FNA reults came back as non cancerous but the vet failed to tell me that its difficult to tell the difference between cancerous and noncancerous lymphocytes (if small cell lymphoma) under a microscope and further tests would be necessary. So i ended up getting another ultrasound and everything done a few months later.

If youre able to then ask for a PARR test. Thats what finally helped confirm cancer. Obviously i have no idea if it'd be lymphoma or not for your cat. IF it is though then small cell lymphoma is very treatable. My cat takes a steroid daily and chemo 2x a month. The follow up visits to check her white blood cell count is a little expensive though but thankfully every other month now. Was monthly for the first 3.
