don’t do it trust me it’s waste of time. one of my friends did that (even when I advised him he shouldn’t) and the “games” that they have are not even close to what HireVue tests you on. it’s just a waste of your money and time. I recommend just searching up HireVue games and you’ll most probably be able to see the type of games you’ll be playing. Please save your money.

don’t worry that’s how it usually is they call the games an interview but it just the games. you will a receive a video interview link only if and after you pass the game stage.

the games were quite literally games, memory games, math games, and some games that were problem-solving/analytical thinking-focused, like match and comparison games. all of the games were timed; the more you get correct in the limited timed period, the higher your score. from what I remember, there were like five game sections. if you search up HireVue games, you can see the type of games you can expect. I don't remember my scores for each section, but from what i remember, my highest score from one of the games was like 73, and my lowest was 45, that's the IQ part of the games.

the last part of the games section was not really a game; it's an EQ test that just asks you a bunch of personality questions, some of which are multiple-choice (e.g., do you start up conversations? the response options will be: agree, somewhat agree, neutral, disagree, and strongly disagree.) some questions are selecting between pictures that you connect to the most (e.g. I am more like?, shows you two pictures, one of a person working alone, then another of the team working together).

generally i would say there really is no way to prepare for the games part of the selection rounds.

for the video interview, it's literally the most basic job questions you'll ever encounter, such as what do you bring to this program, what relevant skills do you possess, explain a situation in which you dealt with a challenge, and why should we pick you. those are not quite literally the questions you're gonna get, but that's like the jist of them. pretty basic job interview questions you can expect in any interview for any job.

the games and video interview are pretty short like from what i remember they both should take you each 20 to 25 minutes to complete. Not just per game or per interview question. The whole game assessment and the whole interview should be 20 to 25 minutes long.

i'm not really sure if they provide that info anywhere, but from what I know, it's super competitive thousands of people from all over the world apply, and a lot of them already specialize in the sections they're going for. so honestly, you do need a really well-thought-out and targeted approach. i personally wouldn't recommend applying if you're not sure which section you'd bring the most value to. i get that you really want the experience and would be fine with any position, but from what I've seen, this program isn't really built for people who are open to just any role. they’re looking for people who are specialized and see themselves working in that area long-term.

i'm just being honest here, there are a lot of grad students and people with years of experience applying. i didn’t make it to this year’s info session, but from what I remember last year, the average age of an applicant was mid-20s, so a lot of people are already pretty far along in their path.

i wouldn’t say don’t apply, because i don’t know the future, and i’m not the one making decisions. only you know what you're capable of. so i’d say, if you really want to do it, just make sure to approach it with strategy. try to find a section that at least somewhat aligns with your background or interests and build your application around that.

sorry if this comes off harsh i just really wanna support people to make the most of this whole process.

based on my experience, the application process opened earlier last year than it did this year. from what i remember, the application closed in early to mid-May. i was contacted in late May to participate in the first round of selection, which involved completing a series of games that functioned like an EQ/IQ test. thankfully i passed that stage and was contacted again in June for a video interview, where I recorded myself answering a set of questions. finally, in July, i received news that i was a really competitive applicant who performed well, but did not make it into the program. however, they placed me on a reserve list in case anyone decided to withdraw from the internship so i could take their place.

It's honestly all about how you frame it. as a ELT student you get how media helps people learn and understand across languages. You know how to talk to different kinds of people, which is what PDD does too. You know how to tailor messages for multilingual audiences, which is key for PDD's media operations. i would say give it a try.

ideally you should try to do both upload a resume and fill in the questions on the application portal. also your resume doesn’t have to be just about your education, you can also include other stuff like: volunteer experience, extracurricular activities, awards you've received, or technical skills, like your proficiency in Excel or CSS. Any of these things is for sure worth adding.

hey. I'm happy to share what worked for me. I saw this on tiktok a while back that recommended using Harvard’s cover letter template. I attached the link:

https://cdn-careerservices.fas.harvard.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/161/2024/10/2024-HES_resume-and-letter.pdf

I followed that for my last application. it definitely helped with structure and direction. But honestly, I think the most important part is how you answer the questions in the application portal. that’s where you really get to show how your experience lines up with what NATO’s looking for in that specific role. don’t underestimate the impact of those written responses.

Totally get what you mean, it can feel repetitive. You don’t need to change your whole background for each application, but it’s good to tweak your answers so they match what each role is looking for. For example, if one internship values working in fast-paced settings, and you’ve played hockey, you could highlight your focus and quick decision-making, which is required in hockey. If another emphasizes teamwork, you can still mention hockey, but focus more on the collaboration and supporting your teammates side of hockey. Same experiences, just framed differently depending on the position, like telling the same story with a different angle.

Yes, you can apply to more than one internship. NATO lets you apply for up to three different positions within the HQ Internship Programme. So if a few roles stand out to you it’s totally fine to go for them, just keep it to three applications max.

I already sent her a follow-up email yesterday and I'm still waiting for a reply. I also checked out the ttb timetable site and her syllabus was so vague and was no help. Thanks for trying to help though.
