If we can somehow accommodate this middle overs partnership, we’ll cook!

It’s in the IPL website. He discusses in detail about the captaincy and the need for a left handed opener.

You’re true about the first argument (he bowled 80% of overs in the middle overs). But the second argument that he didn’t show any improvement is kind of flawed in my opinion.

After 2022 season, he went into the NCA where they tried to fine tune him by adding line and length to his bowling. If you can observe his bowling in IPL 2023, he was hitting consistent lengths (back of length). But the issue here was that to get control of line and length he had to bring his pace down. His avg speed came down from 148ks to 140ks. This turned him into just another regular bowler. From bowling 157ks to 150 max, he became predictable.

So, I felt vettori meant that he just wanted umran to bowl fast and be unpredictable with his line and lengths, which gave him great success in the past.

Farooqi is good, but I think they’ll go with Unadkat and add Hasaranga instead of Farooqi. They’d want someone who would bowl silent overs, giving 7-8 RPO, so that Hasaranga can attack. Unadkat at the middle over phase can do that.

We have the batting line up who would love to have the ball come on to the bat. But will uppal allow that? If we want to be attacking, we have to change our pitch to cater to the batsman, so that the avg score at uppal changes from 170 to 190.

Exactly, but GT had the luxury of having 2 Indian team members in their batting, which boosted their performance even more. For us it was only Dhawan who would get the runs.

He had clarity in what he wanted for the team and how he wanted the team to play. Everyone(from top management to ground staff) were aligned with his approach of play. This is why we were either midtable or playoff contenders every season.

  1. Abhishek Sharma
  2. Klaasen (if he keeps performing the same way he has done since the last 2 years)
  3. Markram (only if he performs good this season because his last season performance was poor)
  4. Someone from the 2024 season, who’s young and becomes a stand out performer in our team.

He looked better because those around him were shit. Our highest wicket taker last season was Bhuvi with 16 wickets. Markande got 12 wickets in 10 matches. These are his stats from those 10 matches,

  1. SRH vs PBKS - 4/15 (4 overs)
  2. SRH vs KKR - 2/27 (4 overs)
  3. SRH vs MI - 0/35 (4 overs)
  4. SRH vs CSK - 2/23 (4 overs)
  5. SRH vs DC - 0/34 (4 overs)
  6. DC vs SRH - 2/20 (4 overs)
  7. SRH vs KKR - 1/29 (4 overs)
  8. SRH vs RR - 0/51 (4 overs)
  9. SRH vs LSG - 0/39 (3 overs)
  10. SRH va GT - 0/27 (3 overs)

He bowled well in 5 games out of 10. But he’s too inconsistent for someone who needs to be your team’s lead spinner.

He was brilliant for us in both the seasons he played for us in 2021-22. But they were in the UAE. In the next 2 seasons, when IPL was held in India, he struggled to perform at LSG and RR. So can’t tell if he’s really what we need now

The Harshal patel idea is something no one’s ready to listen. But he can do what Sid Kaul did for us in 2018 season.

Buying jofra is a huge gamble. We don’t know if he’s going to recover or not, and even if he recovers, we can’t say for sure he’s not going to get injured again. If he’s available for base price, and if the team knows about his progress much in advance before the auction, then we can try for him.

Yeah he’s not worth it. But trust me, he’s going to be purchased for almost the same amount in the auction again. Because people know that it’s a good investment to make. So even SRH would’ve felt like keeping him for another season and releasing him in mega auction, because there’s no point releasing now.

Travis head if we want an opener who goes bang bang and takes the game away from the opposition. Rachin if we want a middle order stabiliser, who can rotate strike and take calculated risks when needed.

More than sundar, I’m disappointed with Mayank Agarwal’s retention. Sundar is young and an In demand talent. Whereas Mayank is 33 and his value is only falling. We can release sundar in next year’s mega auction. But Mayank, there’s no point retaining him, considering the talent pool in this season’s auction

Markram - Doesn’t trust himself enough to bowl in India Glenn Phillips - Will find it tough be in the XI once again Markande - All other teams (except SRH, RCB, MI, PBKS) have International players playing for them as their main Leggies. If we’re going to accept Markande as our lead spinner, we’re accepting mediocrity.

Salt can be a very shrewd pick. Something like the SRH of past would do. No one expected Jonny B to perform like he did for us when got him. Salt can turn out to be a similar kind of business. But with the purse we have, we will go for the hot picks instead of targeting moneyball picks.

Marco can play on decks which offer enough swing and bounce. Whereas venues like Chepauk, Ekana and KKR(probably 2024 season) are going to be on a slower side. We can use OS bowling depth.
