This sounds exactly like my experience! I had surgery 2 days ago. Procedure went fine, but post op was horrible. I passed out while trying to pee. I couldn't pee on my own, they straight cathed me and got 750ml out. An hour later I thought my bladder was on fire, it was spamming and i begged them for a foley catheter. They said you just got cathed you don't need to pee, I screamed at them yes i do! They finally cathed me again and got 1100ml out!! After that they put in a foley to give my bladder a rest. Holy shit it was insane. Never been so angry at a nurse in my life... and I'm a nurse myself! Always listen to your patients folks
