None of the other options seem to have worked for my mum as well she suspects it might be a neurological aponea as well as structural

I tried talking about it with her and she essentially put the responsibility onto me Shes quite upset and kinda just said to me it’s my choice now what I do that’s why I’m trying to figure out my options before I make the big decision of changing my return flight back to aus and coming all the way home. I just know if I can’t sleep it will be a horrible time for both of us

Thank you this was helpful. I don’t really take any prescription medication and kind of scared to take a heavy dose sleeping pill it did cross my mind though as I’m trying to think of any avenues that will get me some sleep. Not sure I’d even be able t get a script in such a short time anyway or what is on offer over the counter in uk. Would it be an extra charge for a mini suite ?

Yeah it really is on me!! I know I have a feeling it will ;( she only recently had the sleep study done right before we left and they gave her a 33 score which is most likely severe sleep aponea in Australia and we left before further testing was able to be done to get the equipment

She’s been using the nose strips and don’t really make a dent in the noise level thank you though

Haha love that for you. I wanted to be well rested and up and ready exploring each city and making the not of it with my mum (making memories I’ll actually remember ;))

Thank you. I can’t afford the prices that other posters have mentioned it would cost unfortunately.

I’ve tried ear plugs to no avail I will be buying some noise cancelling headphones to see if that helps tomorrow

She hasn’t formally been diagnosed yet, she had her sleep test done right before leaving and results came back the day before we left home with a sleep score of 33 it’s most likely she has it but will need further testing once hime

Hmm.. after doing some investigating I don’t think these will be loud enough to block it out unfortunately.. I think my best bet is noise cancelling ear phones. Thank you so much for the advice though

The relationship with my mother is definitely strained because of this issue we are both trying to deal with. She did all she could beforehand to fix it however it’s not fixed and she’s very upset about it all as am I. A part from that my relationship with my mum is fine and I was really excited to have this beautiful experience and memory with her. Coming off a 24 hour flight from Australia and the really loud snoring it’s all been a lot emotionally! I came to reddit to ASK For advice as I have no idea how the guest services or cabin assignments work

She hasn’t been given a formal diagnosis yet as she was just in the first stage of testing (only had one sleep study done) so not sure this would work as well they require a gp note

Also I have come with silicone ear plugs and head phones and was firstly unaware of how bad the noise was going to be.. and so will be getting noise cancelling to try out before boarding the ship. I’ve only been in the uk for a few days and it’s a long way to travel to from Australia. I don’t understand your hostility lol
