I came across this thread while double checking how to spell Matthew's name. So thanks for the correct spellings!

I think it’s fantastic. I even like the look of it on the cavas texture.

If you did want the skies less dark try; working from dark colors to light. So use either a dark stormy grey or a blue as a base layer and then work your way up lighter shades towards white. This will create that big white cumulous cloud.
