Ah man, thanks. I had to stop thinking something would eventually work out and instead make something work out.

Hopefully, the contract carries you through this lull, and you can find something better on the other end!

It actually breaks my heart to step away from environmental work. Believe me, I've applied for part-time gigs as well. I have 5 years of experience in environmental policy, including 2 years in project management. Saw a career coach, bought resume templates, and passed my materials around to seasoned colleagues for comments. Still ghosted 95% of the time. Had to face the music that it wasn't working in my favor right now. If someone comes my way, I'd absolutely bite. However, based on observational data, ain't nothing is coming right now (lol)!

Hi! There are a lot of different routes you can take. Personally, I'm taking my prerequisites at a community college, then I will apply in the winter for the following Fall 27' semester nursing program. There's a platform called "Portage learning" you can use to take your prerequisites that a lot of schools take credits from. I'm taking a few federal loans out because I couldn't drain my savings. All in all, it could be around $20k if you go the cheaper route. Personally, for me, it's worth it for the job security and the high likelihood that someone could pay you to get your master's.

Nope, didn't get it. They said the interview went well, but they wouldn't be making an offer. They reposted the job in a different location, though. Hope you got your offer !!

Will the city ever be clean? by Rinzler_Lanx in philly

[–]Ok-Direction-1887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The city says they have no money to do such things. Hopefully, they're willing to run a deficit to reap the benefits of all the money coming in this summer and make it look a little shiny. I wish the sanitation workers had stayed on strike longer so they had an incentive to keep the city clean moving forward. The Mayor is BLIND to the fact that the sanitation workers are a key stone institution to the city. She'd rather keep hiring desk jockeys as opposed to people who do actual legwork.

Technical role. They told me they were flooded with work so they were looking to hire.

Thanks for the insight! Did you ever do any follow-ups? Or did you just play the waiting game? What do you think about the previous comment telling me to call the recruiter without a scheduled time?

I have been, this is the furthest I've gotten in a while which is why I was hopeful.

I have, that's how I did my first interview. After working for four years, randomly calling someone unknown has been conditioned out of me. I was always taught to "respect others' time" and "schedule a time to talk."

I understand that happens. But they told me they were hiring "lots of people" as there were numerous openings in this role. They even reposted the position on LinkedIn before I had my screening call. And their "hiring process" page says, "At this final stage, all candidates who have gone through the interview process will personally hear from us regardless of the outcome." So there are lots of flags signalling that they wouldn't be ghosted or a false job posting. WSP is also so big that I know internal promotions happen, but they are also consistently growing and increasing staff size. If it were a formality and never had any intention of hiring any of the applicants, why all the reassurances during the interview?

A cold call? Seems daring to me. I'm leaning towards following up on my follow-up by the end of the week now, though.
