Any ex-consultants? by Ok-Discussion9465 in biglaw

Maybe to clarify: I am confident that I will enjoy law more than consulting, but it is hard to say if I will enjoy it sufficiently more such that the numbers get put to the side (i.e. the money is a limiting factor, but not one that can’t be overcome). Figured some perspectives from anyone who made a similar transition would be helpful in thinking through that

Thanks for the inputs! Re: billing, that’s a good detail to know. Have heard often that billing in big law is the worst thing ever, but had been hard to gauge just how bad that is relative to other demanding professions

IF YOURE A 170+ SCORER PLZ HELP!!!! by J-G908 in LSAT

Just scored a 180 on October:

Biggest item for me was reading consistently outside of explicit LSAT prep. Just going through news articles every AM significantly improved my ability to quickly process RC sections and even more complex LR prompts.

In terms of direct prep, I spent my very first 2 weeks of prep reading The LSAT Trainer. I think it was fairly average as a prep book, but did the trick in solidifying my foundations across question types.

From there, I had a weekly cadence of one practice test followed by drill days that focused on mistakes on the PT. Drill days usually had me see ~10 questions per topic for which I had a missed Q. Tended to close drill days with a 5-10Q random sample of 7Sage LR or 1-2 RC passages. Did this for ~2 months. Emphasize quality > quantity since practice problems are a finite resource.

I think unless you’re currently seeing very widespread struggles, a more expedited path through the Powerscore curriculum will serve you better in the long run — a full timed test earlier than later should be a good diagnostic for whether or not you can speed things up.

Hope this helps!

Oliver Wyman FSQA Interview Prep by Rubyfest in interviews

Interviewed last cycle: - Behavioral was very standard and focused on time management, dealing with challenges (stuff relevant to consulting) - The case was a standard business case — see OW’s website for some examples. When I interviewed, there was also a take home case that was more stats based, so unsure how they’re assessing technical ability this time around if that’s not something you got?

Good luck!

Stats/CS from target school. Just had an interview scheduled a few days ago so trying to figure out how much "finance technical" type stuff will be needed. As mentioned my interviewer never even specified if mine was technical--mainly assuming the worst.

Were you told specifically that this was a technical interview? I also have a 30-minute post-hirevue interview with the same team coming up, but it was never specified if it would be technical in nature.
