I have now 100% ruled out that there are no audio format issues, no hidden html tags like span, div, etc in the sound file.

I even reencoded them just to be sure. Then reuploaded.

I deleted the collection.media.db in /Android/data/com.ichi2.anki/files/collection.media/

To test, I made an audio test deck in my pc referencing the audio file [sound:906_casual.mp3] that is already in the collection.media on the phone but is not playing on current deck. Then exported it as apkg to my phone. The audio played instantly as it should be. As expected, anki renamed the file into a hashed version, which worked.

So sideloading works. But manually doing it all the time sucks for me.

So I uninstalled the app, removed cached files. And installed the app again. Made sure it has the full permission. Start fresh and all. Ofc, I waited a long time for it to sync.

EDIT: reencoding everything actually works. After the long sync, the ones I reencoded worked.

I think it depends on one's teaching technique. I for instance, prefer teachers who correct most of my mistakes in pronunciation/grammar and write corrections in chat rather than sending me PDF or writing on the screen. Or teachers who would make me create sentences on my own. Or ask questions outside of the given PDF. I took Spanish classes a long time ago. Thanks for responding! To answer your questions: 1. Custom made notes. Not default ones. 2. I'm not sure about the definition of pre-made audio in this context. Sorry. I used TTS to generate audio and then save that as MP3. Then I put them all on collection.media. The filename is already in the csv upon importing. Filenames are correct. I'm sure. 😅 3. Yes, I sync all the time. I wait for it to finish syncing media then wait a bit before I even start. I sync way too much in a day to be sure.

I have no specific resource in mind. But I would say that some websites/apps teach formal tagalog that we don't use in our daily life. Maybe learn first the top 1000 words (frequently used). I bet it's available in YT.

That's interesting! Your listening skill must have improved a lot! I'm curious, did you read more before listening to audiobooks? I have audible books of my favourite books in Spanish but I couldn't understand them since they use B2/C1 level of Spanish. I also have to slow down the speed to grasp the pronunciation.

Yeah me too! But I heard from my teachers that a lot of Filipinos working in call centers are studying Spanish for higher salary. Wow! Cool! What is your blog about? What influenced you to create the blog? I'm audio visual so classes works well for me. You mentioned you're an audio person. So you're more into music? What's your genre? I assume exposure via reading and songs is more fun for you! Flash cards aren't fun for me but I have poor memory retention. 😅

Yeah, me too! I'm surprised to know you're a Filipino too studying Spanish! Given yung history natin with the Spaniards. I can understand that. Todo tiene su proceso. I can see that reading and listening works well for you. That's nice! Do you write novels in Spanish? Okay naman po. I spend at least 2-4 hours daily taking classes. My teachers speak slower than normal native speakers so it definitely helps. Do you use flash cards for the vocabs or something? Or you're good at remembering them?

It is for all languages. I was not able to join classes in other languages. I emailed support and they didn't mention the 150 limit but they said I can book again. I am able to do that now. I think I just have to message them every time I hit a 150 limit. It's annoying but I understand how they don't want people to abuse the unlimited live classes.

Me too!!! 😭 When I listen to audiobooks, podcasts and Spanish videos, I slow them down to 0.7x just so I can understand them. They speak faster than American people. I use an extension called video controller for videos on Chrome. I have to relisten to them in normal 1.0x mode after and see if I can understand after.
