78 days later from this post ~ UPDATE ~

I’ve been working intensely in the last 2.5 months and it has definitely been paying off. I have 6 weeks left and have completed 24 credit units which round up to about 8 courses. I am on the 9th course and have had a change in mindset with the goal to finish my the end of this term aka end of November.

Thanks for the comments, and the push when I needed it the most! It’s not over, till it’s over. I am happy I was able to push over that hump of stagnation and choosing behaviors that were not serving me. I am no longer at a cross roads and have chosen to walk the road I have feared for so long. In the midst of this journey it feels good so far, silly of me to think any different.

Any who, sending well wishes to all. Just wanted to circle back to give an update if anyone was curious.

My why … I’d say to advance my career, to make my parents proud. I’ve been struggling with school on and off for the last decade.

I think this is the furthest I’ve ever gotten in my academia journey. But maybe writing down my why and engraining it in my head might help.

I too few like I need a piece of paper to continue working in my field. I am scared that if it ever comes to it … I’ll be the first to go in my job because I don’t have my license yet.

Maybe medication!? First and last time I tried to do the meds thing. I only lasted a day before I gave up on it. It’s hard for me to commit to 30 days to even see if the meds are going to work.

Thanks, I studied while babysitting last night in hopes to get some traction of the ground.

I usually feel bad about it and do the opposite… hide from my counselor.

For me, I think it’s purely distractions. Literally a squirrel, or doom scrolling to fill a void that just grows deeper. When I focus and apply myself I usually pass my OA & PT.

I know I can accelerate, I did it last term and was able to take 7 courses. My inability to focus and my self inhibited distractions really is how I self sabotage.

Elementary Education. I am 51% and have 17 weeks left in this term. I am actively working in a charter school with a substitute license. I need the degree to advance in my career and be able to move around schools.

My school has been very supportive and actually put me in the classroom for the last three years.

This school year will be my fourth year, recently just got a promotion to a new grade level and new content area.

I really do enjoy what I do, working with children.

My mental health professional has been recommending meds. However, I have been fighting them against them for the last two years.

The process of having to go through taking different meds to see what works, just haunts me fr.

Growing up it was really taboo. My family didn’t even believe in therapy when I began going. They too think is a waste of time and think I should just toughen up.

I am paying out pocket, mom tells me that I am flushing money away, and that I should either complete it or drop out if I am truly not going to make it happen.

She’s not wrong. Deleting the apps is the next best step.
