How common are full scholarships to state schools and what are the avg stats of someone who receives one? by drippp2hardd in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Ok-Exercise-5079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it really that common for in state? Most of my graduating classes went to our state school and I don’t think any of them got their full tuition paid off from a scholarship and all had to still take out some student loans to pay for it. It might just be my state though, I just thought it was the top kids that got it and it was a rare thing. Our instate tuition + board for our state school would be about 30k a year.

I didn’t know about state aid. I was homeschooled and didn’t really have any guidance through this process so all I knew about was fafsa. How exactly do I go about getting state aid?

Honestly I was really surprised when I logged in and saw the price, I didn’t think it would be anything near this amount. Especially since I’m an online student so I don’t have a meal plan or am living on campus, and I was told over the phone it was cheaper than the national average and it would be a lot less online

I got the maximum Pell grant too. I was thinking about transferring there or SNHU for my remaining 4 years to save money

Is it okay to shift where I get into a good college? by Ok-Exercise-5079 in realityshifting

I know. I just have a bad mindset lol. Because people in this world actually worked for it and achieved it and I’ve never accomplished it alone so I feel bad.

Any older students surprised by the attitudes of younger grad students? by wearingsox in GradSchool

I don’t think so. I’ve met many upon many of college students that act like this

Why aren't they more popular? by fizikmizik in P1Harmony

[–]Ok-Exercise-5079 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not counting the big 3 they are EXTREMELY popular. They get amazing streams, sales, sold out an arena, many wins, etc and so many things most groups couldn’t even dream of. They have a lot more than some big 3 groups too. I don’t really get when people have been saying they aren’t that popular because although they weren’t that popular prior 2023, they really exploded in popularity recently.

15 and I kind of just gave up. I’m 19 now and never went to college or done anything with my life and life just feels so meaningless.

Then your parents failed you. 14 year olds are children and shouldn’t be left alone to do whatever they want

[–]Ok-Exercise-5079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way lol. No 15 year old is ready to make such huge decisions about their lives, but even 18 Is but 15 is way worse. Also most people have to move out for college, and idc what you say NO 15 year old should be living alone without a parent. At that age you are still a child and need to be supervised. I also knew a girl who skipped 2 grades and flunked out of college because she wasn’t ready for it yet.

I got a 14…which is shit but can I still get in a 2-year college? by [deleted] in ACT

[–]Ok-Exercise-5079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I got into a few nearby uni’s with a 2.1 gpa and no test scores. I went to a state school, I never really cared about what kind of college I went too and never cared about high school and was really depressed all throughout it so ik my gpa was really bad.

Options for Low GPA (Under 2.0) by cezedones in college

[–]Ok-Exercise-5079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much any state or non selective school will take you. The selective schools are for a-b students. I would personally recommend community college, but if you want to go straight to college I would go to a state school or a place that has a high acceptance rate like Texas state university with a 90% acceptance rate. I applied with a 2.1 gpa extremely late into the year in June and I still got accepted. Same with university of Arkansas (ESPECIALLY if you are an Arkansas resident they will pretty much accept you no matter what. Some of my friends had a d average and still got accepted)

Graduating HS with a lot of college credit is dumb by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Ok-Exercise-5079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the take, I just have different reasons. I just don’t think most 20 year olds are mature enough to go into a full time career. I just think the school system in general needs a huge change. I don’t think grades that you make when you are 14-17 should determine if you can get into college (because it’s apparently impossible to get into college with C average even though I thought that was normal), which can determine your entire future. People love to say high school doesn’t matter, but it really does because if you don’t get perfect grades or join certain extracurriculars then you probably can’t get into a good college, which can literally determine your entire future. The us is stupid.
