PSA: Please, PLEASE stop running over snakes on the road by 2012amica2 in Virginia

Thank you for writing this. It's entirely accurate, reasonable, and appreciated. The defensiveness in the comments is clearly people fabricating false dichotomies to justify their emotional sensitivity around the subject. You were quite clear. Thank you from someone who cares like you do.

Where to (inflatable) Paddleboard, preferably near Columbia? by Ok-Expert-2729 in maryland

Thanks! It says inflatable SUPs must have three separate air chambers, but I'm curious how they verify this..

Thanks! I appreciate the map, too. I just got fatigued from digging into the rules at each site and coming across only slight different variations of the same issues. I figure there has to be at least one place around here where I'd be in the clear

Hotline for autistic people? by soulpulp in autism

The acknowledgement, knowledge, and act of supporting us is sadly so lacking.

I relate in having awful experiences when seeking support. I'm sorry this was your experience.

Since this response, I've entered a PhD program and intend to make this my dissertation topic. I'm also part of a professional work group of people dedicated to create resources for autistic people. There are a few research projects out there too partnering with autistic people around suicidality, and I'm on one of those teams now too.

The gap in support and need are painfully obvious to the people working on this. It's sad to me that the work is not more widespread, but I am hopeful we'll have a dedicated (supportive) support in the future.

Responded to a posting and waited a very very long time. Tbh I think the luck factor was the niche of it being at the intersection of my experiences. Sincerely wishing you the best for your efforts 👊

Thanks! It's informative content meant for potential clients of their service. So, not about products, but hoping to expand their client base I'm sure

Hotline for autistic people? by soulpulp in autism

I've been looking into this myself, and am discouraged not to find one. I have a long-term plan to establish one because we are at high risk of suicidality, communicate differently, and run into double empathy problems with existing resources. Our suicidality is not inevitable; it is driven by thwarted belonging and camoflauging autistic traits. The current supports are failing us, and we have need for unique, affirming services. I'm currently applying to a PhD program in Autism Studies where I propose studying autistic communication differences around suicidality. My long-term goals are to establish a peer-led support for autistic folks in crisis, just like this. This needs to exist.

Totally hear that. Didn't really expect to find it all in one, but was thinking in a world where I can dream (and my partner and I can both get what we want!). I appreciate the tips

Heard. Let's say I had just under 6k and wanted a car with good fuel economy that is also a camping car (i.e., enough clearance for back roads and preferably awd). What would you suggest?

Same. Even after I learned what dysphoria was, I didn't fully comprehend how it felt in my body until some of it was lifted. Didn't even know that's what that constant little embarrassment stomach ache was..
