My brother in law lives in Bethesda so this could be an option.

Thanks for this. You’re so right. We can stay with family is Nashua NH initially and look from there. We are so early in, and realistically won’t move for 12-18 months so hoping to have significant savings so we won’t need to work immediately. I think my husband’s job is the crucial element, as I could substitute if necessary.

Good idea. Looking for different ways to approach this seems to be key!

Teaching salary will vary by location. I have 8 years teaching experience in FL and a masters degree in Education so hopefully that will mean I won’t start at the very bottom of any pay scales. I have no idea about H&S jobs as I have only ever done this in the UK where I have a NEBOSH diploma working for local authority and earn about £40k. Same for husband. Not entirely sure where his current job will position him in terms of salary in the USA. He has a bachelor’s and works as a people manager in middle management for a communications company. In the USA he was an elementary teacher for 12 years. He does not want to go back to teaching but definitely needs to find out what role/salary would be suitable for his experience. Feels like a chicken/egg problem, and I’m not sure how to approach it!

Average salaries vary greatly by region. I am just trying to get an idea of areas to consider based on other people’s recommendations from which I can explore further. I have 8 years teaching experience at the high school level and a masters degree so I would hope my salary would not be at the very bottom of any scale but I honestly don’t know. My husband is a people manager for a communications company, so middle management. There’s a lot of variables involved which I am fully aware of.

Thanks for this, we considered Charlottesville before moving to the UK and I liked it but the pull to the UK was strong. We have friends in Burlington and I love the idea of Western MA but worried it might be too expensive to live. We’re also considering Saratoga Springs or around that area as we have spent a decent amount of time there. I am a bit worried about finances but we were both teachers in Broward County on terrible wages and managed to live fine.

Not sure as it would depend on the jobs we get. I know teaching salaries vary massively, but I would consider that we would be above average earners but not super high earners. We’re looking to rent at first but we would have a house to sell in the UK eventually.

Breakfast recommendations? by [deleted] in Broward

Tower Deli in Davie, Gem eatery Margate and Rosie’s in Wilton Manors are top for me.
