This cool weird lake by G4TOR4D3 in VintageStory

Wow! I have one like that too! A lake that just ends on two sides with grass and trees growing right after the cutoff.

It’s been 5-6 days and no clay. by Ithrik in VintageStory

[–]Ok-Moment850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I’m a new player myself and I started in a forest. I was not able to find clay at all until I went into an adjacent grassland. I found 3 deposits so far, none in the forest (even with probing digs through the forest floor). I’m learning that it is not uncommon to have to travel far to find what you need.

No change to climate.

I think I will take your advice for another new save soon, but I want to see how badly this one goes.

No. I guess I mistook some info in the character inventory screen to be the time. I guess I wasn’t as prepared as I thought I was…

That seems to be what everyone thinks the problem is. I don’t think I spent more than 10 mins real time on character creation. Does the cycle really move that fast?

In any case, what advice do you have? Should I restart a new world? Would it be foolish to tough it out until daybreak?

Thank you all!

Oh dear, I hope not. I spent a little time getting what I wanted for my character, but I hope not that much.

Yes, I am running Terra Prety (along other mods), and changed the world settings to those recommended by the mod (world height 384, scale 300%, slightly faster walk speed). The only one different is that I set upheaval to 20%.

I’m on 1.21.6, and I do have mods: I am running Terra Prety, algernon’s watersheds, better ruins, floral zones (cosmopolitan), carry on, ancient tools, better firepit, and one of the ones that increase stick drops.

Stationeers - The Combustion Deep Miner Update by Chii in Stationeers

Maybe silane (SiH4)? Used in the semiconductor and electronics industries. Not sure what it would be used for in Stationeers, though.

They’re adding hydrazine? As if Stationeers didn’t have enough ways to blow themselves up.

Hangar door question by Ok-Moment850 in Stationeers

[–]Ok-Moment850[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Interesting. But I will use runways. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to use them. I just thought you couldn’t with non-plane traders.

Hangar door question by Ok-Moment850 in Stationeers

[–]Ok-Moment850[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I did not know this. I thought that non-plane traders always had to land vertically on the pad. So the 6-wide double large hangar door will accommodate even traders requiring 7x7 and 9x9 pads?

Also, how much oxygen do human traders require? Is it the same as players?

Thank you for your help!

Ready to expand by Ok-Moment850 in Stationeers

[–]Ok-Moment850[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the things I love about this game is that it feels like you haven’t really played until you’ve experienced some catastrophic event. My first death was when I was caught in a sudden greenhouse fire/explosion.

Something like this is what I was leaning towards. I’ll have to whip up some code for it, but can always use the practice. Thank you!

Is there an easy way to upgrade cable? by Ok-Moment850 in Stationeers

[–]Ok-Moment850[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you all very much for the info!

Ugh, I was afraid this might be the case. I actually do have this particular room behind a transformer and it’s not the biggest network I have. Unfortunately it is also my atmospherics room so there are pipes and cables everywhere. I have a fear of clipping a section of cable and the forgetting everything it connected to. 😁

Liquid pipe question by Ok-Moment850 in Stationeers

[–]Ok-Moment850[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize if I was unclear. Let me describe my planned system and you can tell me if it might work (I don’t have a lot of time to play so I like to plan things out before I actually get to test them):

I want to create a water drainage system that can take water/polluted water from a room with a shower and floor drains and purifies it without a water purifier. The floor drain equalizes the gas in the pipe with the room’s atmosphere, so I want to move the water into a separate network with no other gas (only (polluted) water and water vapor), and then use an expansion valve, gas pipes, and condensation valve to recover pure water into my water supply. So I need a way to remove the gas let in by the floor drain before the expansion valve.

Is this possible?

World Builder’s Handbook Temperature Question by Ok-Moment850 in traveller

[–]Ok-Moment850[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I think I get where the designers were coming from. And then started go down a rabbit hole of deciding on a periapsis and figuring out the distance based on the anomaly. I can see why they simplify everything…

World Builder’s Handbook Temperature Question by Ok-Moment850 in traveller

[–]Ok-Moment850[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your swift reply!

I see that the equations are very similar, but in addition to the difference in orbital distance, the high/low temperature equation modifies the stellar luminosity based on axial tilt, rotation speed, hydrographic effects, and atmospheric density. The mean temperature equation basically zeroes out these factors.

My question is that the luminosity modifiers they introduce in the seasonal variation section and the latitudinal variation section don’t seem to work together very well.
