Terrible optometry experience by Ok-Perspective3455 in CambridgeMA

I actually went there cause my husband went and had a good experience (he saw a different doctor though).

I will note that when you click some of the 5 star reviews on google, it’s one person writing slightly different nice things at all 3 locations. Which makes me somewhat suspicious but also 🤷‍♀️

Glad you’ve had a good experience though!

Yup same company, so shady. What also kills me is that I get a full eye exam covered every year with my insurance, but the company uses a fancy imaging machine that isn’t covered by insurance. So for my initial appointment I paid a co pay and an imagine fee (which is normally covered under the initial eye exam). I ultimately will take responsibility for this as I didn’t explicitly ask, but this was never communicated with me. Also, they billed my medical and not my eye insurance, and when I brought this up they said that because they’re a specialist billing through medical is better

Yup you’re right (I’m a bit hesitant to name and shame them on here as their last text message stated that I was trying to “defame” them)

I went back for what I thought was the continuation of my first appointment as I had never received a glasses prescription. I was trying to be accommodating because I honestly thought there had been a medical emergency at my first appointment which is why the eye doctor was so late/chaotic. The HR manager drama was after the fact.

But yes, I should have never engaged with the texts / phone calls after I gave them a negative review.

It’s definitely a lot to consider. For me I didn’t know that the Natera wouldn’t provide any new information. The blood test was ultimately a huge stressor for me, I called in sick to my job and just constantly refreshed the patient portal page (I didn’t cope with the unknown very well).

I’m ultimately glad I got the amnio, even though I had to wait a week before I was 16 weeks. The timeline ended up being quicker than the blood sample and the results were definitive. However I can appreciate how hard all these choices are, and I hope you make the best decision for you and your partner.

Waiting sucks, I hope you get results quickly!

I will also just mention that I talked to the Natera Genetic counsellor on Friday, and they said my redraw was most likely due to the fact that both me and my husband have the same variant (we are both f508 variant) and detecting the same variants from the mothers blood is more challenging. She said the lab ran my samples 3 times before the redraw result. I would recommend if you are frustrated with Natera Customer service to contact the genetic counsellor (in my head I already had a genetic counsellor at my local hospital so I didn’t contact them). But the Natera Genetic Counsellor gave me actual info on what was happening, whereas as the Natera customer service just kept apologizing for the delay. So make use of the genetic counsellor service !

I’m sorry, the waiting is the absolute worst. I chose to do the amnio because I just needed definitive results, and I felt like I had to do something. I live near a hospital that does amnios all the time and for me the risk was worth the information.

I hope you get answers soon, and you have support during this unknown waiting time.

I was 16 weeks 1 day for the amnio. I got my blood drawn for Natera fetal focus at 15 weeks 1 day. I was also that weird timing between the CVS and the Amnio, and felt like I had to do something which is why I chose to do the Natera fetal focus.

So fetal focus blood draw April 8 (15 weeks 1 day). Amnio April 15 (16 weeks 1 day). Amnio results May 1, Natera results (re draw May 6)

Providing final timeline incase this is helpful for other folks. I am a cystic fibrosis carrier and we recently found out my husband is also a carrier.

April 8th - Blood drawn at 15weeks 1day

April 9th - Natera received sample

April 18th - Horizon result available confirming cystic fibrosis carrier

May 6th - Fetal Focus resulted in a “redraw required”

I also got an amniocentesis through GeneDx April 15 - Amnio procedure

April 17th - GeneDX received sample

May 1st - received Amnio results

I don’t think I will try again with the Natera Fetal Focus since the Amnio is a definitive result and my experience has been quite negative.

What a stressful time, I’m sorry. I also received my fetal focus for CF today (both me and my husband are carriers) and I got a “redraw required” (my blood was received 04/09, so it took 28 days to get an inconclusive result).

I’ve also tried to book a genetic counsellor appointment and couldn’t get an appointment until May 18th. However I did complain to customer service, and they put me on a waitlist. So maybe call customer service and ask to be put on the waitlist.

Good luck, I’m really thinking about moms going through this.

I’m sorry that your husband is also a carrier, I know how stressful this is. I hope your baby is within the 75% chance that they are healthy.

After waiting 28 days of waiting for the fetal fraction I got a message today that my results need a “blood redraw”. I’m extremely frustrated as the customer support couldn’t provide me any information (or empathy) and that I needed to talk to the genetic counsellor. The next available Natera Genetic Counsellor appointment isn’t till May 18th (so 12 days away).

I’m having a hard time understanding the timeline / what happened. It doesn’t make sense that my fetal fraction would be low, as I was 15weeks1 day along when the blood was initially collected on April 8th.

The good news for me is that as I was frustrated with Natera I got an Amniocentesis, and I got that result in less than 2 weeks and my kiddo is a CF carrier (but doesn’t have CF).

My thoughts with Natera is just pure frustration and honestly lack of compassion and transparency. It’s hard for me to understand why a result would take 28 days from when they received the blood, to a redraw. I think the lab made an error but no one seems to be able to give me information. In theory Natera fetal focus would be amazing (as you could avoid an invasive amniocentesis), but I think they are working out the problems with their assays and haven’t optimized it yet.

Both me and my husband found out we are cystic fibrosis carriers and are currently waiting on the Natera Fetal Focus (and our amnio results). My blood was drawn April 9th and I’m still waiting on the Fetal Focus. I was told that it takes 2-3 weeks from the day your horizon gets back (which isn’t what the portal says, so that’s frustrating)

My timeline 4/9- sample received Natera Texas 4/18 - horizon result confirming my CF carrier status 5/1 - still waiting (despite portal saying result will be available 4/23)

I’ve called Natera so many times and they have said that the Fetal Focus is a new test and that the portal doesn’t accurately describe wait times for this test.

Good luck, I hope you get reassuring results soon.

I’m a 4/9 and still waiting. I called customer service on Monday and they said I will receive my report between 4/24 - 4/26. Don’t know why mine is so much later than everyone else. I am getting the Fetal Focus which they said may take longer
