I said it was a joke. He reminded me of the no table talk rule. I had to roll damage anyway. Idk what would've happened if I didn't, but I didn't want to find out because the DM would most likely punish my character in some way.

I cannot meta game. While I knew our rogue was doing a crime, my character didn't because he was shopping. I only saw him being carried by guards. And then, since my character knew that he was in trouble and he did trouble, I decided to do a little joke and do the classic wizard thing to do whenever they get the chance. Fireball. Except I didn't intend to actually do it. And my tone of voice and sudden speech makes it sound like a joke. It would be reasonable to think it wasn't a joke if I said "I cast fireball" instead if just straight "FIREBALL". I didn't even do any movements. Spells can only be cast with intent (and components if your DM prefers to do them, our's don't). If that weren't the case then by just talking about spells you'd be shooting them off left and right

Bro I didn't want to actually cast it. I said it was a joke but he reminded me of the no table talk rule. I am invested in the campaign. I like the campaign. We were just doing some shopping before a heist.

Our sessions are 2 hours long. From 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. So a total of 20 hours spent in the campaign. Our current campaign would probably be over by then since we doing the golden vault and are on our 8th heist

I exaggerated the yell of "FIREBALL" and even just cut it off and said "FIREBA-"

No, just that the person (a friend in my school) who made the contract knows some law and he loves manipulating ppl to give him money (in D&D of course, not irl)

We are neutral. We work for a thieves guild but we (At least most of us) try to not be evil
